As promised, NBC has released the 10th and probably last episode of The Cape as an “online exclusive.”
The Cape follows Vince Faraday (David Lyons), an honest cop who finds himself framed for a series of murders and presumed dead. Fueled by a desire to reunite with his family (Jennifer Ferrin and Ryan Wynott) and to battle the criminal forces that have overtaken their city, Vince becomes “The Cape” — a vigilante and his son’s favorite comic book superhero. Others in the cast include James Frain, Keith David, Summer Glau, Dorian Missick, Martin Klebba, and Vinnie Jones.
The NBC series struggled to get good ratings and is one of the lowest-rated scripted serieson the network. Though it hasn’t been officially cancelled yet, The Cape is very unlikely to be renewed for a second season. The series’ showrunner has already moved on.
On the positive side, though the show is off the air, NBC has released the last produced episode online. It’s called “Endgame” and the network describes it this way:
THE CAPE AND VINCE FARRADAY’S WORLDS COLLIDE AND HARD TRUTHS ARE REVEALED — Police Chief Marty Voyt (Dorian Missick) lands behind bars, in the hands of ARK Corporation, fearing he may receive the same fate as Vince (David Lyons). Attempting to learn more about Vince’s disappearance, Dana (Jennifer Ferrin) takes on Marty’s case, and the impervious ARK Corporation, only to discover secrets of betrayal. The Cape’s double identity becomes blurred when Max (Keith David) and the carnival of crime attempt to protect Dana, Marty and his family.
What do you think? Does this satisfy you? Is this a good way to end the series? Why do you think The Cape didn’t catch on?

Not understanding why NBC took The Cape off!!! My Family and I LOVED this series it was family friendly! I want more!!!!! The Finale was very good. Thank you for sharing as much as you did. A very sad Cape Fan!!
BRING BACK THE CAPE! Stop subjecting families to reality T.V. shows that focus only on sex, vulgarity and drugs. The Cape was one of the only shows that taught loyalty to family, committment, and good winning over evil (very rare today). Terrible injustice to this show and to the fans to end the way that it did – too many loose ends. Vince needs to be reunited with his family. Chess needs to be punished for his wrongs and Orwell needs to be at peace, AFTER we’re told what actually happened to her. Hopefully a more family friendly network will… Read more »
I have very minimal time for television and am VERY choosy about the shows I watch. I am a woman in the legal profession with three children and an extremely hectic schedule. The Cape is an awesome show to watch with my children that entertaining, promoted family, committment, and good winning over evil (which is VERY rare today). It seems if a television show doesn’t center around sex, murder or vulgarity it just isn’t what mainstream society wants to watch, nor what networks wish to air. This was a treacherous and unfair ending to a series that wasn’t given a… Read more »
I loved the show and found it to be very entertaining. However, it was way too cliche at times. It’s a shame that the show’s over, I really looked forward to watching it on Mondays.
Why is it that I finally find a show that I can get into and they pull the plug. I don’t think I will be watching NBC anymore if they don’t bring the cape back. They are turning in to show killers like Fox, anyone but me remember fire fly. Please don’t kill the cape.
I hope they bring the series back. I was shocked to hear that this series ended early. I watched the end game on demand at comcast and enjoyed it. This is one of those shows that needs to continue. I watch alot of shows on demand not when they air, because of not being able to watch at their specific time slots. I hate to loose this as one of my options.
I, too, understand the concept of ratings driving programming, but the problem is overproduction by the major networks. “The Cape” was designating a mid-season replacement from the beginning of the TV season, meaning it would only get a shot either by: a) another show failing so miserably that NBC needed to scramble to fill a slot or b) putting a popular show on hiatus (in this case “The Event”) for a couple of months to test an unproven show. In either situation, the network alienates viewers, making them less likely to give the new show a chance. With the exception… Read more »
Maybe NBC should shut its self down. You cant expect every season to get were Lost did, Cape didn’t do good to it hit mid season. It’s why people watch USA and SPIKE more…least they let stuff play out before they pull the plug.
I have been watching TV for 60 yrs. now, and it is rare that an adult can sit down and watch a show that is well written, has sensible dialog, great story line, no irratating back ground music, action, personal and family oriented story line, extensive scenes, and supurb action. so we know this show was destined to fail, it was too good. Seems like they left the ending open with hopes that it will return. If not they should do a final wrap up.
I enjoyed the show, it was one that was actually worthing dvr-ing. As everyone else has stated; i don’t know why they would cancel a great show like this, but what do we know we are only the viewers. But if they are going to cancel the show have a true finale, a 2 hour rap maybe. How can you end a show like that?
Bring CAPE back . I was enjoying it.
I agree with Mad – how can NBC end this show this way? In my opinion, it may have gotten a slow start as the theme and characters took time to understand and embrace. Now that we are hooked, off the air it goes, and without a true finale? I’m very disappointed in NBC. At least give us the chance to see justice prevail, a father reunite with his family, the criminal suffer due fate, Orwell land on her feet, and the accomplices depart on amenable terms (that’e my perfect ending, anyway). This is not just about us comic book… Read more »
Why the hell does NBC keep canceling the GOOD shows and keeping the crap? Chase got cancelled, and now The Cape?! Two of the only four shows I watch on TV! Wait…I just read that The Event may be cancelled, too! No wonder NBC is in the tank! They keep killing all the good shows!!! Hopefully they will be available on DVD, then I can forget NBC even exists. Why get into a show if it is only going to go away?
Pissed in Denver…

I understand that TV (ABC, NBC, and CBS) are all about the ratings, since ratings make money. But I don’t understand why the upper management of these corperations don’t ever listen to the fans that do watch. Why don’t they correlate the time slots with family shows, more adult shows, reality tv shows and the tv networks. Us fans know that when shows get canceled it’s nothing to do with us but to do with the tv networks inability to schedule the appropriate time slots to the right show. I mean younger families don’t like to sit back and watch… Read more »
I LOVE THE CAPE! Great characters and great story, and now I’m pissed. How could you leave it this way? How do you make this the end when there are still holes EVERYWHERE?! The biggest one being his returning home to his family. I don’t understand why people don’t like this show considering all the comic book fans in the world, but I don’t see why I have to suffer because people are stupid! I NEED to know what happens next. No supposition, no speculation, just TELL ME! Make more episodes now please, you have fans and we were all… Read more »
