Bones has been a quiet hit for FOX but the same can’t be said for its spin-off, The Finder. FOX has now cancelled the low-rated series after one season.
The Finder is a procedural series that revolves around a man (Geoff Stults) with the extraordinary ability to help people find the unfindable. Other castmembers include Maddie Hasson, Mercedes Masohn, and Michael Clarke Duncan.
The spin-off debuted on January 12th to a disappointing 1.7 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 5.50 million total viewers. It was fourth in its Thursday night timeslot right out of the gate and lost nearly 30% of the all-important demo from its compatible lead-in, Bones. This was not a good start.

Things picked up a bit in the following weeks, thanks in large part to the show having FOX’s blockbuster American Idol as a lead-in. Still, the numbers weren’t as high as they should have been.
After seven weeks on the air, FOX put Finder on hiatus and then moved it to Friday nights, giving its Thursday timeslot to Touch. If The Finder could maintain a healthy percentage of its viewers after the switch, it would likely garner a renewal.
But that didn’t happen and Finder’s numbers dropped like a rock. In its first Friday airing, the freshman series attracted a 1.1 demo rating — an episode-to-episode loss of 53% — with just 4.03 million viewers. The numbers for future episodes fluctuated a bit but didn’t really get any more encouraging. The network could do just as well or better by running cheaper reality programming.
The season finale of The Finder is set to air this Friday night and there won’t be any episodes after that. Hopefully the producers saw the writing on the wall early enough and won’t leave viewers hanging with any major unresolved storylines.

This show is great. I hope Netflix picks it up and creates a second season. They left a ton of stuff unresolved.
I really enjoyed the show too bad it was cancel I feel it should be brought back on Sunday time schedule base that on Sunday there’s hardly anything worth watching I hope they bring it back
I love this show. I just wish I knew about it sooner, I would have told everyone. I really hope it comes back.
They also did this to Firefly which was also another good show. The Finder was really entertaining. Hope it comes back!
I started watching The Finder on netflix 2 days ago and have binged on it until the end. I thoroughly enjoyed the show, the characters, and the humor. My daughter in law likes the crossovers from Bones. PLEASE revive The Finder! We need more episodes to binge on! I would much rather watch shows like this than dancing with the stars. Any day.
I saw this after watching the episode the finder on bones,it has been a great show and i think it has some real potential.My favorite parts was the crossovers and the references.I hope FOX will give The Finder another chance.Comment “The Finder S2” if you agree.
Saw this on Netflix and remembered watching an episode or two after Bones. I binged watched it on Netflix through all of the 1st season (the only season produced). I realize that Bones was in a decline when they tried this spinoff and I believe it tainted it. This is such a good series!!! It is well written, very well acted, appropriately light hearted, and has the right amount of moral fiber to violence ratio to keep it interesting without being like an “after school special”. I loved the show as well. It was fun and the actors seemed to mesh so well each other. It was nice to have a mystery without a lot of violence. I would be so grateful if Netflix picked the show up.

I love this show. I was so bummed when it was cancelled but I dont know that it could have continued without MCD (RIP Mr. Duncan). I have binge watched the series on Netflix several times over and would keep watching it if Netflix picked it up. It has potential for continuing, especially if you have some of the cast from Bones come on the show. The thing that worked on Bones was that it was the FBI and the Jeffersonian. It is hard to imagine a US Marshall being involved with so many cases like these.
Would love to see this show get picked up by Netflix!
