Bones has been a quiet hit for FOX but the same can’t be said for its spin-off, The Finder. FOX has now cancelled the low-rated series after one season.
The Finder is a procedural series that revolves around a man (Geoff Stults) with the extraordinary ability to help people find the unfindable. Other castmembers include Maddie Hasson, Mercedes Masohn, and Michael Clarke Duncan.
The spin-off debuted on January 12th to a disappointing 1.7 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 5.50 million total viewers. It was fourth in its Thursday night timeslot right out of the gate and lost nearly 30% of the all-important demo from its compatible lead-in, Bones. This was not a good start.

Things picked up a bit in the following weeks, thanks in large part to the show having FOX’s blockbuster American Idol as a lead-in. Still, the numbers weren’t as high as they should have been.
After seven weeks on the air, FOX put Finder on hiatus and then moved it to Friday nights, giving its Thursday timeslot to Touch. If The Finder could maintain a healthy percentage of its viewers after the switch, it would likely garner a renewal.
But that didn’t happen and Finder’s numbers dropped like a rock. In its first Friday airing, the freshman series attracted a 1.1 demo rating — an episode-to-episode loss of 53% — with just 4.03 million viewers. The numbers for future episodes fluctuated a bit but didn’t really get any more encouraging. The network could do just as well or better by running cheaper reality programming.
The season finale of The Finder is set to air this Friday night and there won’t be any episodes after that. Hopefully the producers saw the writing on the wall early enough and won’t leave viewers hanging with any major unresolved storylines.

The chemistry right out of the gate was great and I liked it for what it was escape entertainment, but I can see how the formula was going to get real old real quick. It seemed as if the writers saw the potential but couldn’t sustain the premise and still make it interesting. I liked it but waddayagonnado
That’s not right that was one of my favorite shows I’m tried of reality shows there’s gotta be a way to bring it back it was done for family guy

I missed some episodes of The Finder this season, due to not realizing it had been brought back on Fridays. I found out it was cancelled when I was looking online to see if I could purchase a DVD of Season 1; that’s how much I enjoyed the show. I am in my 50’s, my daughter is in her mid twenties, and we both thought the show was great fun. I agree with many of the comments others have posted. I loved this show, it was quick and witty and not all serious crime drama which was a great change of pace. I hope some other network picks it up! Not to mention the fact that we where left with a serious cliffhanger at the end wondering what was going to happen with everyone!
This show THE FINDER should of NO WAY BEEN CANCELLED!!! Please give it another chance!!! I bet if u put BONES on @ 8pm then THE FINDER on at 9pm..the same night, the ratings will skyrocket!!! These two shows are like one of the best shows on tv…if FOX is looking to dump some shows, try the “reality” shows, so many are sick of them!!!!….just saying!!!!
My husband & I loved this show. It was so refreshing. There is so much garbage on TV, I don’t understand how this happened. If we were gone on a Friday, we recorded the show. How sad.
This WAS a good program. Interesting characters, good writing, excellent locations,
enjoyable story lines, believable concepts. I think you are wrong in cancelling this
program, and saving Touch. I watched the first 10 minues of that program, and stopped
because of the frenetic action. Please reconsider and continue The Finder. Thank you
Why did it get cancelled? They moved it to a crappy time-slot and didn’t tell anyone! Also they aren’t taking into consideration ONDEMAND or DVR. That is how I watch it as I work Friday nights…. not cool FOX. Guess what not only did they cancel this show, they have now made me LEAVE the network altogether! Goodbye The Simpsons, Family Guy, Bones… it was nice, but I just can’t get invested into another show I really really like only for it to be cancelled… AGAIN! PS. This was such a refreshing show. I loved it on Friday nights. It took me to another place after a hard work week. I will miss the characters that I adored. What a mistake FOX. You need to find a decent place where it can take root!

Personally I thought it was a great show. This would be a good experiment to market directly from Hulu.
