Bones has been a quiet hit for FOX but the same can’t be said for its spin-off, The Finder. FOX has now cancelled the low-rated series after one season.
The Finder is a procedural series that revolves around a man (Geoff Stults) with the extraordinary ability to help people find the unfindable. Other castmembers include Maddie Hasson, Mercedes Masohn, and Michael Clarke Duncan.
The spin-off debuted on January 12th to a disappointing 1.7 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 5.50 million total viewers. It was fourth in its Thursday night timeslot right out of the gate and lost nearly 30% of the all-important demo from its compatible lead-in, Bones. This was not a good start.

Things picked up a bit in the following weeks, thanks in large part to the show having FOX’s blockbuster American Idol as a lead-in. Still, the numbers weren’t as high as they should have been.
After seven weeks on the air, FOX put Finder on hiatus and then moved it to Friday nights, giving its Thursday timeslot to Touch. If The Finder could maintain a healthy percentage of its viewers after the switch, it would likely garner a renewal.
But that didn’t happen and Finder’s numbers dropped like a rock. In its first Friday airing, the freshman series attracted a 1.1 demo rating — an episode-to-episode loss of 53% — with just 4.03 million viewers. The numbers for future episodes fluctuated a bit but didn’t really get any more encouraging. The network could do just as well or better by running cheaper reality programming.
The season finale of The Finder is set to air this Friday night and there won’t be any episodes after that. Hopefully the producers saw the writing on the wall early enough and won’t leave viewers hanging with any major unresolved storylines.

Watched the last episode. Nooooooooooooooooooo. I watched it on Hulu Plus, I’ll have to “find” a show that compares, or if we’re lucky someone else will pick it up.
I watch on Hulu Plus as well. It took me a while to get into the show. About the 4th or 5th show I was completely hooked. Please go to USA Network facebook page and request that they pick up this show.
I love this show!!! I can not believe they cancelled this show but kept stupid shows!! Come on fox rethink this decision! You can’t get rid of a great show like this!!
I LOVE this show! I agree with you completely! I don’t think I will watch anything on FOX anymore since I can’t trust them to keep quality shows on TV.
This show was great better than any other show out at the moment please bring it back before it is to late. My wife and i loved it
I hadn’t even seen an advert for it till my MOTHER mentioned seeing it. How could Fox expect ratings gold if they failed to promote the show? This isn’t right!! Myself, husband AND both of our teenagers watched faithfully, once we’d found the show. My suggestion would be a full court press on the execs to re-sign the show, place the time slot after something currently popular, oh and actually advertise it!!!!????

I am very upset by this news. The Finder was the best new show on TV, and quickly becoming one of my favorites. Easily one of the most original shows on TV, now we’ll get more reality crap to watch.
Sad to see such a great quirky show deserving of renewal go…. FOX should have given it a chance… it is a great show that deserves more.
I watched this show from ep 1 back in January. My wife and I fell in love with it immediately. I was so upset when I heard it got cancelled. This show and its characters are awesome. I’m sure with the right marketing campaign this show will take off.
It remains unclear to me where the networks truleyget their ratings information from. It’s really sad if this is what big businesses and commercials rely on to determine who gets their money. The networks get it wrong all of the time. They just don’t admit it. The Finder was a thought provoking and uniqe show. Sometimes when the network does not devote enough monies to promoting the show but then moves it all over the board it’s always the fan who loses in the end. If the season finale was ultimately the show’s finale that would really be messed up.
Once again, a network introduces a new show without much fanfare, then puts it on hiatus, then moves it to another night. Why do they think that it had a chance? This was one of those shows that would have grown once viewers found it.
Sick to my stomach over the cancellation of this show!!!! I am always raving about it and the “quirkiness” of the characters to my friends. Hopefully FOX will see that so many people really did watch, liked the characters and bring it back for a second season. How are we to know what happened to all of them. The season finale left so many things to be resolved.
My husband and I think the Finder is one of the greatest shows ever. How can FOX expect this show to gain viewers when they switch nights mid-stream? And switch it to a Friday which is date night? Get real. If FOX had properly adertised the show and had it following a top show (like Bones) I’d bet that it would have been a success. How can we make FOX change its mind?

So so sooooo disappointed! The finder was a fun and clever show with a great cast. Fox should reconsider canceling it. The finale was great adding more depth into Walters character, not to mention his cool moves killing those cult guys. Very sad to hear that it has been cancelled. They should havve aired it back to back with bones as the other person mentioned.
