Bones has been a quiet hit for FOX but the same can’t be said for its spin-off, The Finder. FOX has now cancelled the low-rated series after one season.
The Finder is a procedural series that revolves around a man (Geoff Stults) with the extraordinary ability to help people find the unfindable. Other castmembers include Maddie Hasson, Mercedes Masohn, and Michael Clarke Duncan.
The spin-off debuted on January 12th to a disappointing 1.7 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 5.50 million total viewers. It was fourth in its Thursday night timeslot right out of the gate and lost nearly 30% of the all-important demo from its compatible lead-in, Bones. This was not a good start.

Things picked up a bit in the following weeks, thanks in large part to the show having FOX’s blockbuster American Idol as a lead-in. Still, the numbers weren’t as high as they should have been.
After seven weeks on the air, FOX put Finder on hiatus and then moved it to Friday nights, giving its Thursday timeslot to Touch. If The Finder could maintain a healthy percentage of its viewers after the switch, it would likely garner a renewal.
But that didn’t happen and Finder’s numbers dropped like a rock. In its first Friday airing, the freshman series attracted a 1.1 demo rating — an episode-to-episode loss of 53% — with just 4.03 million viewers. The numbers for future episodes fluctuated a bit but didn’t really get any more encouraging. The network could do just as well or better by running cheaper reality programming.
The season finale of The Finder is set to air this Friday night and there won’t be any episodes after that. Hopefully the producers saw the writing on the wall early enough and won’t leave viewers hanging with any major unresolved storylines.

I love this show and hopes someone will pick it up. It’s the only show my husband would watch with me. I’m sick of reality tv.! Looks like Fox lost another viewer.
Big mistake cancelling the Finder. Unfortunately, I only recently tuned in when it was moved to the Friday night line-up but was instantly hooked. A quirky but fun little series with an awesome cast… really going to miss this one.

Hate to see the show end, but this is the same company that pulled the plug on Firefly and that was an amazing show in my opinion. I would have liked to seen it continue, or have a better ending then Walter gets arrested, Isabelle loses her job, and Timo gets a bad ending.
Is there some way to get Fox to continue it?
Please forgive this awkward rant as I am still in shock. I watched the finale of the Finder, another excellent episode by the way, and I decided to hit the internet to see when the next season will air. I can’t believe you are doing this my god how dumb can you be it not like fox has a lot going for it as it is the only things I watched on fox was bones and the finder but no you had to go and cancel it I’m with every one else with this when fox get their head out of the toliet they will realze they messed up big time I just hope fx or usa pick it up and show fox up
They put it on a friday which is a death day for genre shows and expect it to keep its ratings…what kind of idiots are in charge at Fox

My impression is that the geriatrics running the networks are still using “the numbers” from the 18-49 demographic to drive their decisions… Problem is the 18 – 49 demographic isn’t watching on TV anymore. 21st century… new world… advertisers will have to depend on product placement more than commercials to sell their wares… and production companies will have to wrap their heads around working that in to their shows if they want the production $$$.
For shame FOX! I love this show. So much crap is being renewed and not any of the really good shows are renewing. For shame!

I wish they would pay more attention to the internet following as well. I don’t have television so I watch everything online. I actually sit through online commercials to watch this fun show. My boyfriend and I make a night of it because its funny, interesting and not full of crap. It was nice to have a show with morals and character that didn’t throw religion or weirdness in your face. DOWN WITH REALITY TV! BRING BACK THE FINDER NOW please. Please? Pretty Please?!
We love the Finder. Switching the show to Friday nights made it hard for us to watch it. It’s one of the most entertaining shows with great actors and interesting story lines. So disappointing. We hope FOX realizes that they made a mistake, and brings The Finder back for another season. If they don’t…well there’s always HBO.
