Sadly, the Visitors aren’t among us any longer. After two short seasons, ABC has cancelled their V TV series.
A reimagining of the original V, this series tells the tale of what happens when an advanced alien race arrives of Earth professing their desire to help mankind. Fortunately, not everyone trusts them. The second season features the talents of Charles Mesure, Elizabeth Mitchell as Erica Evans, Joel Gretsch, Laura Vandervoort, Logan Huffman, Morena Baccarin, Morris Chestnut, and Scott Wolf.
For season one, V ended up averaging a 2.25 rating in the coveted 18-49 demographic and 5.7 million average viewers. It was “on the bubble” but ended up being renewed for a 13 episode second season. The network was hoping that the show would catch on and the ratings would improve.

ABC later reduced the episode order to just 10 installments and debuted them mid-season. Unfortunately, ABC’s gamble didn’t pay off. Season two of V ended up averaging only a 1.9 in the demo and 5.49 million viewers.
Though the network and producers maintained that the show was still in contention for next season, it was clear that there would only be a third season of V if ABC was willing to gamble once again. In the end, they weren’t.
ABC confirmed today that V has been cancelled after two seasons and 22 episodes. The series finale aired on March 15th and, unfortunately, there were lots of unresolved cliffhangers. Hopefully the producers will someday share what they had in mind for season three.
What do you think? Are you sad that V won’t be returning next season? Why do you think the series didn’t catch on?

I can’t believe they canceled that show ! We watched it every time it was on, as well as family I have in Europe that loved to watch it. This show was just starting to get really suspense full and loaded with story line’s. ABC sure got that one wrong for sure ! 🙁
I am tired of ABC starting a series and then just ending it without some kind of ending. This has happened to many times. If they start something, they should finish it. At least some kind of two hour fanaly. I am to the point that I may not start another series. I may just ignore it until it has been on several seasons and has ended and then do a catchup.
It think it’s interesting that people are still posting about this series in late 2011 and 2012. There is a dedicated cult following for this series and many want the story to continue.
I think it would be awesome if another channel such as Syfy or AMC picked it back up where it left.
What!!! Me and my hubby are so sad…we watched the original when we were kids and were so hooked on the series again…what a pain!!! I guess we wont be watching new shows until they’ve been on for a while, I dont wanna waste my time anymore.
This is crap …the wife and i really enjoyed the series .wwere anticipati the final series .
DON’T CANCELL!!!!!!!! I DON’T SEE WHY SEASON THREE OF “V” CAN’T BE DONE FOR THE LAST TIME WITH ABC. THEN SELL THE RIGHTS TO “SYFY” AND LET THEM FINISH THE SERIES OFF. YOU CAN’T LET THE “V” VIEWERS BE HANGING FROM SEASON TWO. I WAS A TEEN WHEN THE “V” SERIES ARIED BACK IN THE 80’S. IT WAS COOL BACK THEN FOR THAT TIME,BUT NOW SINCE IT HAS BEEN UPDATED FOR THIS TIME( 2000’S )IT IS A LOT BETTER. PLEASE BRING IT BACK!!! YOU NEED TO GIVE IT ANOTHER CHANCE. YOU KNOW A THIRD TIMES THE CHARMED!
Completely agree! Just started wondering when this great show was coming back on! ABC must be run by complete morons!
Perhaps the problem was the name of the series, “V”. When people are channel surfing, the name has to be captivating….and a single letter, V, is not attention-grabbing; “The Visitors” would be much more appealing. I would hope the network will come up with a 2-hour finale, at least.
I am very saddened that V was canceled. I am so angry right now. ABC has just lost a viewer. I will watch re runs on ION before I will go back to ABC every time they get something well cast they screw it up. Lost ran forever, Hell the worst story line. You never new what day of the week it was on and it was poorly written and they ran it for how long. The only thing good that came out of that series was some very good talent, which worked around a bizarre bunch of writers that… Read more »
show was fantastick!:)
please… bring back the show. it was one of my favorite abc shows.
i watched it in 84, and the new version in 2009.
bring it back. All of the characters were great, chad decker, the pastor, anna and her daughter, anna’s mom, everyone.
please, return V with new episodes.
most people probably didn’t know the show was on and watched other
shows on different channels, when V was on at the same time.
this show is absolutely fabulous
Once again, I have started to watch a show and got hooked. The second season of V was better than the first and then I find out it is now cancelled. I and many others can’t understand. Please think again, the show should be seen through to its climax. You might get a surpise at how popular it was getting over here.
I loved the show its too bad we will never know what’s going to happen at the end
I enjoyed the series. I normally do not like sci-fi, but this was an exception. I’m sorry it is not being renewed.
Bummer. Great series. Maybe wrong timeslot. I was hoping that it would continue at least to the finish of the story line. Left us all hanging I guess.
This is a first for me, a reserved 40+ female, to respond in this form. I was captivated by “V” first time around, always wondered what happened next. What an impact this series left in my fertile imagination! Sebsequently, I couldn’t believe my eyes when a trailer for the 2009 hi-tech version filled my tv screen in the UK, delighting me with the prospect of mysterious plots. Compliments to all cast members! Over the past 18 months I have treated myself to season 1 and 2 of this thoroughly imaginative escapist series. If you too, have been bitten by the… Read more »
