Despite lots of negative reviews last year, Zoo did okay in the ratings for a summer show. CBS renewed it for a second season. Will the numbers rise or fall this time around? Will the Zoo TV show be cancelled or renewed for a third season? Stay tuned.
On Zoo, a young zoologist (James Wolk) spends his days running safaris in the wilds of Africa. He begins noticing the strange behavior of the animals and works to figure out the reason for them as the assaults become more cunning, coordinated and ferocious. The rest of the cast includes Kristen Connolly, Nonso Anozie, Billy Burke, Josh Salatin, and Alyssa Diaz.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — usually the next day, around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.
8/10 update: CBS has renewed Zoo for a third season. Details here.
9/6 update: You can see the rest of the latest night’s ratings.
Note: If you’re not seeing the updated charts, please try reloading the page. You can also see them here.
For comparisons: The first season of Zoo averaged a 1.06 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 6.40 million total viewers.
Note: These are the Live + Same Day Ratings which include “live” viewing plus delayed DVR viewing, up until 3am local time that same night. Ratings marked with an “*” are the fast affiliate ratings and will be updated with the Live+SD numbers when they are made available. Typically, networks get paid for C+3 ratings which includes DVR viewing within three days of the original airing when commercials are watched. Those numbers are rarely released to the press.
What do you think? Do you like the Zoo TV series? Do you think it should be cancelled or renewed for a third season?
Please renew Zoo. It’s one of my family’s favorite shows.
Yes our family enjoyed the show. ..we would love to see it come back for a third season
Love this drama, and the actors!
I enjoyed all episodes.its a great work
It’s been renewed for season 3. But the writing has gone downhill. They need an injection of new writers if they want to succeed.
This show is so much fun. And serious, too. I enjoy every episode–sure hope it gets a third season.
there must be a third season the show is great
I love the shows and if it gets cancelled I would hate CBS for life. If you don’t like it don’t watch it!!
Animal Kingdom is way better and ZOO isn’t averaging a 1.0 Under The Dome had numbers like these and got cancelled. Be grateful if this gets renewed with numbers like these. Stop insulting people who actually know how the ratings system works.
Seriously? American kingdom isn’t even close to as good as this show. Vulgarity, sex, and drugs is all that show has. Zoo has a great story, actual scientific stuff behind it, as well as action and adventure thrown in. Not to mention some funny quips.
Animal Kingdom is vastly superior. Vulgarity, sex and drugs happen in real life. “Actual scientific stuff”? Really? Only if you have no idea how science works.
I am sorry but I don’t like it and I don’t watch it. It will fail miserably, sorry.
A pitifully bad show. The poor writers and poor actors make this a poor show. I feel sorry for the animals whose careers are ruined by this travesty.
Don’t feel too badly. Most (if not all) of the animals on the show are computer generated, anyway. Not always convincingly, either.
Your right….. James Patterson is a bad writer for sure (since he does write parts of this show and okays every storyline throughout).not like james has won awards and had what… 6 or 7 new York times best sellers?
Past success as a writer means nothing when they try and venture into science fiction. Look at the creators of Greys Anatomy, who’ve written a highly successful series for many years. They convinced scifi they could write an amazing science fiction drama, so they created Defying Gravity. Big budget, great CGI, lots of science fiction involved in their ship and technology, and a HORRIBLY CRAPPY STORY, full of plot holes, just as ZOO is! It was only aired for 9 of the 13 episodes in the USA and for the last three episodes in Canada they had to replay 15… Read more »
Please renewed it for third season so good really entertaining well done show i read a lot books way better plot then the show itself.
If this show is renewed for a third season it can only be because CBS needs to lose money for tax purposes. As my 15 year old granddaughter said the plot has a lot of holes in it and it’s because of the bad writing. I watch it because I love to point out all the errors in plotting, the bad acting and fact no one really cares if any of the characters live, except maybe for those poor animals they’ve decided to highlight each week. If you want to laugh watch this show as it’s definitely a winning comedy… Read more »
You do realize that this is a science fiction thriller right. How exactly are you seeing plot holes in a fiction based show? Let me guess..your one plot hole was “how can those two still live if they in the first two episodes alone been attacked by lions and in a plane crash!” Not to mention there science behind said things is actually quite valid as the brain of a lion for instance has some dormant areas that could potentially one day be unlocked.
Darlene is absolutely correct this series is FULL OF PLOT HOLES. You obviously don’t see them because it takes a discerning character to notice them. I’ve only watched a couple from the first season and a couple from the second season because this is so BAD! So many to choose from that are completely impossible: First season: Big game outfitter in Aftrica who is accustomed to shooting a rifle misses a standing lion at under 50 meters….not possible in any sense of the word! Bats fly all the way to Antarctica to cover a solar panel so that the researchers… Read more »
I really hated this show. It was pathetic compared to other shows like Person of Interest mainly due to the fact that the story line in the first season was weak in zoo. Many things could of been improved including the fact that they could hold the clue of the eye changing in the animals that was infected leaving us wondering what caused it instead of continuously annoying us by showing the eye changing. They also could of gotten better actors. The current actors are annoying and don’t create a unique character. If it was me in CBS, I would… Read more »
The main problem with “Zoo” is that it relies heavily on plot conveniences, rather than offering anything in the way of plot twists. “Person of Interest” had some really excellent episodes… especially in its final season!
I agree as POI was one of my favorites… however if you read Pattersons book, they are staying true to the plots presented in the book. I do have to say though, the guy who is a zoo worker, can’t remember the actors name, I liked him so much better in “revolution” which I wish they didn’t cancel as I loved that show
This is a terrific show that can only get a lot better with the right script and perspective. I was disappointed to see season 2 only had 10 episodes. The show should definitely be renewed and all of these people’s pettifoggery with these terrible comments should be ignored, for they let their perception stain their reality in seeing what a great show this is.
Replace “Zoo” with a show that respects viewers’ intelligence enough to make the show entertaining. We’re willing to forgive the plot line’s unlikely premise, because it is, after all, the premise of the entire show. But, for the sake of people who expect television shows to earn the suspension of disbelief… at least TRY to earn it. A television show that insults the viewers’ intelligence to the extent of “Zoo” deserves to be eaten by every type of animal by which it can be eaten. Cancel this mess of a show and replace it with something more entertaining… like television… Read more »
Unlikely premise? How about the fact that this topic has been highly debated for years about intellectual stimulants that could unlock new parts of the human and animal brain to the extent of a more balanced lifestyle. Has it been done, no…. but are there researchers actually studying these things, yes, very much so
The unlikely premise is that any herds of animals would be killing hundreds or thousands in a city after escaping from a zoo and there are no military or police in the scenes shooting them dead. They wouldn’t last a day in any city…foolish premise! Or the giant plot hole of the solution the government has come up with….kill all the animals on the planet to wipe out whats causing them to change….then repopulate the planet. Does any thinking person ask themselves….if you kill them all….how do you repopulate animals…hahaha? Ridiculous premise and massive plot hole in any logical thinking… Read more »
save zoo for season 3 please
