Series Description:
This sitcom follows Reba Hart (Reba McEntire), a sharp-witted, smart and single mom living in a Houston suburb. Her dentist ex-husband Brock (Christopher Rich) left her to marry a flaky dental hygienist named Barbra Jean Booker (Melissa Peterman) who bizarrely believes Reba is her best friend.

Reba must also deal with teen daughters Cheyenne (Joanna Garcia) and Kyra (Scarlett Pomers), son Jake (Mitch Holleman), and Cheyenne’s dim-witted boyfriend Van Montgomery (Steve Howey).

Series Finale

Episode 125 – The Kids are Alright
After Van accidentally causes a fire that damages their home, Reba allows her daughter’s family to move back to her house. Barbra Jean resolves to turn down a great out-of-state job offer and to try to make it work with Brock. In the end, Reba realizes how lucky she is to be part of this crazy family and how far she’s come in the last six years. Read a detailed decription here.
First aired: February 18, 2007.

What happened next?

There were some rumors of a possible Van and Cheyenne spin-off but it was never produced.

Behind the Scenes

Though the series was the highest-rated sitcom on CW, the network felt that it didn’t fit their desired demographic. The final episode was produced prior to the cancellation notice and was designed to give some closure just in case it became the series’ last.
In the May 30, 2007 issue of Variety, 20th Century Fox TV president Gary Newman lamented that the series wasn’t allowed to reach its potential. He said, “The WB didn’t really know how to communicate with advertisers or expand their audience to make it work. I’m convinced that it could have been a big hit on CBS or ABC.”

I have all six seasons on DVD and watch them over and over again. I never get tired of watching it. It is hard to believe this was Steve Howey’s first acting job. He was phenomenal as Van and always nakes me laugh. Wish they would have a reunion show. That would b so great!

I loved the show, it was one I could watch with the whole family. It was wholesome, that’s probably why they cancelled it, they would rather put smut on tv. I always laugh and watch the reruns All the time. I sometimes record them and then have me a marathon. I really wish they had a follow up on the cast atleast, especially if they are not going to bring it back.

Reba’s show helped a lot of families relate to things that were going on in their own crazy world. Her character showed how to be gracious, strict, loving and how to survive. It is a show the whole family could sit down and watch, laugh and maybe help to get a little insight into their own crazy world. It showed kids that families change but that doesn’t mean the parents don’t love them just as much as they always have. I wish they would bring Reba back. It helped so many people more than the rating could ever show.
