TV show description:
This police drama is based on the Rizzoli/Isles series of novels by Tess Gerritsen. The series revolves around a police detective and a medical examiner who, although they’re complete opposites, combine their talents to solve crimes in Boston.

Detective Jane Rizzoli (Angie Harmon) has the mindset that the criminals she’s chasing are monsters. As a younger girl, with a housewife mom and plumber dad, she saw a police officer on career day at school and decided that was the job for her. She wanted the gun, the badge, and mostly the respect. She worked her way up from a beat patrolman to detective in vice and narcotics, then finally to the homicide unit. Her philosophy in tracking down the criminals is to make it personal — get angry and never give up.

By contrast, it wasn’t until her adult years that Dr. Maura Isles (Sasha Alexander) figured out she wanted to become a forensic pathologist. She always knew she was different than the other kids and would hide in her room reading and dissecting dead mice. Aside from being a scholar, she was also an accomplished pianist and honor student. All of this led her to student medicine but, after medical school, she realized she wasn’t good at the emotions needed for treating living patients and switched to forensics.

Maura knows she doesn’t have much in common with the police she works with and knows that they call her “Queen of the Dead” behind her back. This includes Jane’s former and present partners. Jane’s former partner, Detective Vince Korsak (Bruce McGill), is very much her mentor. Korsak has always treated her like a daughter, and doesn’t get along well with her new partner, Detective Barry Frost (Lee Thompson Young). He’s great when it comes to anything that deals with technology, but gets sick at the sight of blood. Still, he’s just as loyal to Jane as Korsak.

Also very loyal is Angela Rizzoli (Lorraine Bracco), Jane’s mom. She’s the epitome of an Italian mother — somewhat overbearing and very protective of her cubs. She claims to have not slept since Jane became a cop and wishes she’d be a little more feminine. She’s not the only one in the family to feel this way about her, as her little brother Frankie (Jordan Bridges) feels very protective of his big sis. He’s trying to make his way up the police force ladder so also feels like he’s a little in her shadow.

I love watching Rizzoli and Isles. It;s a shame you cancelled a great show. I hate these reality shows as they are so full of shit. Would rather watch Crime shows like Rizzolli and Isles, The glades, CSI (all) NCIS (all) , Castle etc. get of this high horse and reality shit and bring us back to the good stuff.

I love this series even though cops shows have been over numbered, but his series takes in just as much of their private lives as the cop end of it which makes it very successful and appealing. The close friendship of two opposites is very entertaining – love it. This series is so well balanced, you cannot help but love it ! And their memorial episode for their beloved lost cast member is wonderful. And persoanly I do not believe someone as handsom, talented and life being good to him would commit suicide. He had everything going for him and had no reason to do a suicide. I just do not believe it. I hope this series stays around for a long time but they need to give us more then 5-6 episodes to a “season”. A season is suppose to be 22 episodes. We just get back into it and they take it away again ! They did it with Leverage too and that series should have continued !

The real good series they take away while keeping repetative series like Supernatural on year after year, just repeating the same thing over and over. In that series it’s like seeing the first season over and over and over. I stopped watching after the 2nd season. So boring to know exactly what will happen almost to the word for word as the first season. That is a series they need to get rid of.
Put Leverage back on ! Keep Rizolli & Isles going for at least as long as the darn Supernatural one has been on – ten long years ! And Major Crimes is good too ! Keep it going. And stop all the darn reality shows !

The loss of Lee Thompson Young is sad and depressing. Suicide is an awful permanent solution to what might have been a fixable temporary problem. He left behind a heart broken family, devastated co-workers and many fans that will miss his smile and easy manner. I am one of them. The cast is taking a break from the trauma of his passing and will return sometime this winter (2013-14). They are trying to deal with his absents in a thoughtful and caring way. After all, he was family to them to.

What is happening with the current Rizzoli and Isles episodes? I know they have lost a beloved cast member, but are still airing his final episodes. Are they going to write him out as a finale episode?

I love having a show with strong women characters that can take on the bad guys but, still be girly.

Why is this show off? I finally find something on TV I really like and you take it off? Whose bright idea is that. I have had it with reality shows! What a bunch of head cases! Boring stuff. Rizzoli and aisles is at least a combination of funny, drama, intense at times and something people can relate to.

I agree – why is it so hard to find out favourite shows? when is the new season starting and what station – they keep changing stuff around!

What is happening with Rizzoli & Isles ? Just saw season finale but it has been back on for just a short time. Best show on TV – if TNT can keep it on, maybe a major network could?
