Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated: Cartoon Network Series Ending, No Season Three

scooby doo mystery inc endingAnimation producers (and spouses) Allison Abbate and Tony Cervone recently stopped by the Radio Rashy podcast to talk with animation writer/producer Paul Dini and his wife, actress/magician Misty Lee.

A lot of the discussion revolved around Abbate’s work on Tim Burton’s Frankenweenie feature film but Cervone, who’s a supervising producer on Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated, mentioned the Cartoon Network series.

Cervone said, “There are 11 shows left that will finish the series off at 52 episodes. I’m not sure when they’re coming back. I never know when they’re coming back. If I had to guess, probably in the summer because it usually airs in the summer. But I can’t wait for these last 11 to get out for people to see them because they’re crazy.”

At 2011’s ComicCon, Cervone and fellow supervising producer Mitch Watson teased that events in the pilot episode would pay off in the 52nd episode. We now know that will be the series finale.

One of the most recent episodes, which aired last fall, featured appearances by classic Hanna-Barbera characters Blue Falcon, Dynomutt, Race Bannon, Doctor Benton Quest (Jonny’s scientist dad), and evil Doctor Zin. It turns out that Doctor Quest created the Dog Wonder!

Though Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated won’t be returning for a third season, it’s a safe bet that Scooby and the gang will return soon.

What do you think? Are you sorry to hear that the scho is coming to an end? What would you like to see in the last episode?

It is beyond me how they cannot do a season 3! It is clear that there is a vast audience who want this incarnation of Scooby Doo to continue. The end of season 2 practicaly has neon signs on it telling the viewer to stand by for another season! There are mysteries to come! But, they pulled a fast one on us. It is a crime to not bring SDMI back again. It’s obviously a hit with a lot of viewers but do they care about us at all? The people who put food on their table and roof over ther head? No, not at all! Shame shame!

This series was absolutely amazing. Is there any hope or possibility of a next season? Do the creators still hold an interest in the show?

It’s sorta frustrating because when they discovered the evil entity and destroyed it, they were called by that author to come to that university…It left me hanging. I love that series too! Its like so fun and almost addicting to keep watching the next episode! Me and older brother were hooked…professor paricles, Mr. E, Cassidy’s sad fate. Everything and then it ended with everything in Crystal Cove normal again. I would though rather have them make a new season on the roadtrip to the university.

So very sad that this series was cancelled. It was simply the very best incarnation of Scooby Doo – EVER! Can’t remember a show that can be replayed over & over & still be enjoyable.

Does anyone know how to contact the producers, studio etc? I hear they are readying a new Scooby Doo series (not related to Mystery Inc) which looks like it is aimed at a younger audience – a shame that they are underestimating the people that which this show.

I would love to see Scooby and the gang realize what a long road they have been on and how they are real friends to the end. Also, They should not end the Scooby doo series anyways. Bring it back as quickly as possible pleas. My kids and their many friends and cousins are SO SAD! Now me and my adult frienda are sad too.
