After NBC’s worst season, it’s no surprise that the peacock network is shaking up their 2007-08 schedule. There’s also little surprise about which shows didn’t survive. Here’s what won’t be returning next season:
Andy Barker, P.I. – The Andy Richter comedy series ran for six episodes to poor ratings. NBC put the last two on Saturday night and it seemed like the sitcom was doomed before it began.
The Black Donnellys – The Paul Haggis series was pulled after six episodes and the remaining episodes have been made available on NBC’s site and iTunes.
Crossing Jordan – After six seasons on the air, Jordan has solved her last case. The series finale airs on Wednesday, May 16, 2007.
Grease: You’re The One That I Want – The ratings were a disappointment and seriously, how could they do another season anyway — fire the first years’ winners to make room for the second’s?
Identity – The Penn Jillette-hosted game show about contestants identifying strangers’ hobbies or occupations is finished after 12 episodes.
Kidnapped – NBC’s big serial drama under-performed network expectations and was cancelled after three episodes and pulled from the schedule after five. Luckily for viewers, NBC released the remaining seven episodes online and the series has been released on DVD.
Raines – The quirky Jeff Goldblum detective show ran all seven episodes to poor ratings. It won’t be back.
The Real Wedding Crashers – The reality series that replaced Donnellys was pulled from the schedule after three episodes. NBC may air the remaining episodes during the summer.
Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip – The much-hyped Aaron Sorkin series didn’t live up to expectations. It will return on May 24th and hopefully NBC will air all six of the remaining episodes. A DVD release is likely.
Thank God You’re Here – The improv sketch show’s ratings were nothing to smile about so it’s been cancelled after seven episodes.
Twenty Good Years – This sitcom starred series veterans John Lithgow and Jeffrey Tambor, was pulled from the network schedule after just four episodes. It’s doubtful that the remaining episodes will air.
Returning in the fall are: 30 Rock, The Biggest Loser, Dateline, Deal or No Deal, ER, Friday Night Lights (moved to Fridays at 10pm), Heroes, Las Vegas, Law & Order: Criminal Intent, Law & Order: SVU, My Name is Earl, The Office, and Scrubs. Law & Order and Medium (moved to Sunday nights) will return mid-season (January 2008) or earlier.
The Apprentice was left off the Fall schedule but NBC and creator Mark Burnett are still in talks of bringing back the series in some form. Mark Burnett previously pledged to find another home for the reality show if NBC drops it.
The Friday night 8pm timeslot has been designated as “game night” and will consist of rotating reality or games shows. The Bob Saget-hosted series 1 vs. 100 will air for eight weeks initially.
I hope NBC actually sees these comments. After moving Crossing Jordan around and having it delayed more than once why don’t you realize people love this show? As soon as it was moved off of Sunday night my husband and I knew it was going to be cancelled. This is a great show and should be Put Back On the Schedule. If I wanted reality I wouldn’t watch TV. I want to see CJ and Raines back!!! The only good thing left on NBC is the Law & Order shows, even Medium is changing and not for the better. Looks… Read more »
BRING BACK BLACK DONNELLY’S AND STUDIO 60!!! I am so mad they are cancelling!!!!
Who in the world is picking the shows for NBC? Crossing Jordan and Raines were the only reason to watch NBC. No one over the age of 20 wants another Reality TV Show. There are some of us out here that still have a brain or two left and because we do have brains we will know better than to watch NBC
Cannot agree with posters more about Raines, The Black Donnelly’s and the excessive glut of reality garbage prevalant on TV these days. Bravo and kudos to all who speak out!
Oh I liked Raines. Wierd dude. Looked forward to Fridays and I definitely will miss the show. But, I was prepared for the possibility it would be canceled right from the beginning. And did’t you KNOW Studio 60 would be canned? Can you imagine WEST WING trying to get a start today? That show probably would have been canceled after 6 weeks.
I’m just grateful at this point that HEROES caught on. At least that’s one of the shows I like that hasn’t been yanked.

Crossing Jordan will be missed. CBS has too many serious crime dramas, and Crossing Jordan added humor to the mix as well as being unique in being more about the MEs. They also had some good music on the show.
A disappointment to see this cancelled but stuff like The Biggest Loser stays.
NBC is the #1 network…for cancellations.
I happened to like Raines and Thank God You’re Here. Crossing Jordan…you know…it ran its course, really. It was a successful show. I didn’t care for it, but I understand that others do. I won’t be the least bit surprised if NBC’s season schedule is mostly reality/game shows.
Years ago, friends in radio told me that “Good Radio Must Die!”. At the time, I didn’t believe them. They said that the masses want the cheapest, easiest, lowest-common-denominator programming. Now I know, they were right. “Good Television Must Die”, too, apparently. Mindless reality shows galore because they are cheap (and that IS the word) programming that the mindless will watch. That, and easy spinoffs and rehashes of old/long-running shows. Those of us who want good writing, good acting and truly professional entertainment execution…I guess there’s PBS, BBC America, and others, but I doubt any will pick up Crossing Jordan.… Read more »
What a shame to cancel Raines! It was original, kind of quirky, and delightful to watch. Jeff Goldblum was perfect in the role. Please consider bringing it back, NBC.
Let me get this straight…You keeep Medium which we’ve seen done 100 times befor (see, ghost whisperer, Dead Zone, etc), but dump Raines. Which took an old idea and made something new. Then you let Studio 60 go but keep Las Vegas. Aren’t they down to something like one original cast member on that show now. NBC is full of morons who think reality shows and game shows are the way to go. The complete dumbing down of America is almost complete. NBC you should have sold yourself to Bill Cosby when you had the chance, You guys suck the… Read more »
Crossing Jordan, Raines, Jericho . . .NBC, you’ve lost your mind if you think reality tv can win you ratings. SOME OF US crave intelligent shows, not mindless drivel like Thank God You’re Here, SCrubs, and Studio 60. Apparently you think society has been so dumbed down that we actually like silly grown-up, and I use that term loosely, antics. You just lost me as a faithul viewer. I’ll stick with CSI and Criminal Minds thank you.
I’m so sad to hear that Raines was cancelled. I really enjoyed watching that show. I don’t think they gave it enough time for people to get to know the character better – Jeff Goldblum did a wonderful job and I really enjoyed his quirky dry sense of humor. Maybe we could get them to air the show on Saturday nights and go from there!
I truly feel that Jordon should not have been cancelled, it is a excellent show and I looked forward every wed to watch the show.I am really getting tired of all the reality shows to much is to much.Maybe take the time to poll some of the people and see what they think. You should listen to the viewers for they are the ones watching these shows and when you just cancell them for the reality shows well you just lost one viewer along with a few more that are upset with this cancelling of Jordon, and a few more that… Read more »
I’m SO sorry to hear Crossing Jordan has been cancelled as it was one of my favorite programs!!! Also a disappointment is the cancellation of Raines. Both programs are two reasons I watched NBC at all … so I guess you’ve lost another audience member to your competition. Actually, the executive’s at NBC should be cancelled!!! They cancel QUALITY programs and keep the STUPID shows …
Go figure! ???
