Sometimes, TV shows that are based movies can be big successes. Sometimes not. About a Boy was not and now NBC has cancelled it after two seasons without even airing all of the episodes.
About a Boy revolves around San Francisco songwriter Will Freeman (David Walton) who had a big hit. It set him up for life financially — and gave him a lot of freedom and free time. His world is turned upside down when a charming boy named Marcus (Benjamin Stockham) and single mom named Fiona (Minnie Driver) move in next door.
The sitcom debuted in February of 2014 with a special preview episode that attracted a healthy 2.2 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 8.26 million viewers. In its regular timeslot a week later, the ratings rose a bit to a 2.47 rating with 8.36 million. The numbers started falling after that but NBC still renewed it for a second season.
Season two performed even worse and lost a lot of steam. It hit a new series low of a 0.69 rating in the demo with 2.41 million viewers. NBC decided to trim About a Boy’s episode order by two and then opted to drop it from the schedule, leaving six installments unaired.
The network hasn’t announced any plans to air the leftover episodes and, now that they’ve cancelled the series, it doesn’t look likely that they will.
What do you think? Do you like the About a Boy sitcom? Would you like to watch the remaining six episodes?
I want the show to come back!!!! Horrible way to end season two with Fiona and will finally hitting it off and it just ending!! Would love to see more!! Please bring it back with more episodes and a third season!!!!
I want to see this AGAIN! It is too good of a show to not watch for the second season… Once I watched the first episode I was HOOKED. All I have to say is, let it air again!!!
I loved it! Wish it would keep going.
I loved the show, I watched it on Netflix and as hooked after ep 1! great actors and story cant believe its been cancelled
I seriously just finished the second season on Netflix and when I found out they weren’t having a season 3 I almost cried…thanks -.-
My son I love watching this show and are very disappointed that it stopped airing. Please show remaining episodes soon, and please think about bringing the show back. The show had a quirky likability as well as a unique snow likeability there was different from all the other sitcoms out there.
I love this this show like it was just starting to heat up and they cut the show at a cliff hanger like i was enjopying it so much
I loved that show and I think they should atleast air the lost 6 episodes

Yes I would like to see remaining episodes, maybe some closure would be nice.
I’m very upset to learn that this show is cancelled. I personally loved it. If I would have known they stopped making it I would have never watched it. They left a cliffhanger!! The show is amazing. I want more!!!!
PLEASE NOOOOOOOOOOO! I need the rest! 🙁 I love this show and I’m so disappointed to find out it’s canceled!
Time for Netflix to come to the rescue and resurrect another great show. Better do it soon too before the actor who plays Marcus gets too old.
This sucks that was an amazing show!!!!! They didn’t make a big hype about it but if there was more talk and commercials it couldve been succesful it just sucks cause it was raelly getting really good.
I am so so disappointed that they cancelled this show!! My boyfriend and I finished both seasons in a couple weeks and absolutely loved it! I wish they would film a third season or at least air the last six episodes on Netflix. Episode 20 of season 2 is such a cliff hanger!
