NBC’s new sitcom Bent came and went very quickly. We now know that it’s been cancelled so it certainly won’t be back.
A romantic comedy, Bent revolves around the relationship of a divorced no-nonsense lawyer (Amanda Peet) and the irresponsible womanizing contractor (David Walton) that she reluctantly hires to renovate her kitchen. Others in the cast include Joey King, Margo Harshman, Jeffrey Tambor, J.B. Smoove, Jesse Plemons, and Pasha D. Lychnikoff.
NBC held Bent until late in the season (never a good sign) and ran the six episodes in hour blocks over the course of three weeks.
The belief was that, by airing two episodes together, they would have a better chance of hooking an audience.
It’s hard to know if that strategy worked to any degree but the ratings were terrible. The show aired opposite other popular shows on Wednesday nights and debuted to a 1.0 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 2.75 million total viewers. It was fourth place in its timeslot. The second installment dropped 20% to a 0.8 rating with 2.38 million.
The next two weeks saw a low of 0.7 in the demo with 1.93 million. With those numbers, there was just no way that NBC was going to bring it back for a second season.
On our NBC Ratings Report Card, which measures the relative demo performance of TV shows on the network, Bent has an “D-” grade. It’s the lowest-rated sitcom that the NBC aired this season.
What do you think? Do you think Bent is a better show than what the ratings seem to indicate? Would you like to have seen it return for a second season?

Great show. Found it on demand and watched all 6 and left wanting more. Would love a second season. Bring it back NBC.
The people who work for NBC are stupid-THIS SHOW ROCKS-I never saw one advertisement for it, and just happened to watch it on my phone which obviously does not count as a viewer. BFF was really good too-all the good shows get cancelled-what are these people on?
This is ridiculous , best new comedy series 2012? If they want good ratings don’t compete with the big series the first thing you do , they should’ve moved it to another air time.
This could’ve been a success , so disappointed!
Love the show. Can’t understand why it was cancelled. Bring it back NBC!
It wasn’t bad as the ratings said ! We would have enjoyed another season
So disappointed to hear it’s cancelled, found online and loved. Great writing, great characters.
NBC needs to get the s…t together. This show had potential a lot of potential. They seem to make one bad decision after another! Who make the decision for the net work. Maybe u need to replace them. I am so sick of reality shows this was a nice change. Get it together NBC!
I too just found this on demand . Very original and funny. Watched all 6 in one sitting . They need to reconsider canceling
I just found it as well. This show is hilarious, too bad
Figures something new, fresh, and funny gets canceled. Cancel all the stupid reality shows because we know it’s not really “REALITY!”
I too, just found this charming show on OnDemand. Had never seen it advertised…watched all six episodes in one sitting. Haven’t laughed so much in a long time! I don’t think it was given a chance.
I found it on demand too and loved it. I’d never even heard of it, That’s why I googled it today and found its cancelled. Very poor marketing by NBC. This was the funniest enjoyable show I’ve seen in years.
found it on demand…loved it…just googled to see when season 2 would start. What a disappointment. I thought this show had so many laughs and enough plot lines…it was great…. another show to watch along side Modern Family.
BUMMER!
Found Bent On Demand and laugh my way through this charming show. I’ve only Googled one other show to find out the time and if it would be renewed, ever. Can’t believe it was cancelled. It was well written, perfectedly acted and intelligent. NBC should have given this show a better time platform and advertised it….really too bad!
found this show On demand and absolutely loved it! wish there were more episodes!
