Do you watch Better Call Saul? Season three ends tonight, June 19th, at 10 p.m. ET/PT. Do you think AMC should renew the TV series? Would you watch a fourth season?
A prequel to Breaking Bad, the comedy-drama follows Jimmy McGill (Bob Odenkirk), a down-on-his-luck lawyer trying to negotiate the ethical dilemmas of the legal world, emerge from his older brother’s shadow, and make a name for himself. The cast also includes Jonathan Banks, Michael McKean, Patrick Fabian, Rhea Seehorn, Michael Mando, and Giancarlo Esposito.
For a cable network like AMC, Better Call Saul has been performing decently in the ratings. So far, season three is averaging a 0.58 rating in the 18-49 demo and 1.621 million viewers. And while those numbers mark a near 30% decrease from season two’s ratings, the show is one of AMC’s better rated shows and still earns significant critical acclaim.
But does this mean AMC will renew Better Call Saul for a fourth season? Earlier, co-creator Peter Gould sounded optimistic about season four:
They should always be worried in television… AMC and Sony have been very good to us. I believe they will continue to be, but it’s show business. There’s nothing that’s certain. You asked me how many seasons we have left; hopefully, it’s a creative decision to end the show, and not an economic one. So I don’t want to take anything for granted. I just feel lucky that we’ve done three seasons. I sure hope we get to do more.”
However, Gould also said that he thinks the series does have a limit:
I will say I think this show has a definite limit to it. It’s a story with a beginning and a middle and a definite end. I have to say, I would rather have it end too soon than go on too long. It’s the old showbiz adage: “Leave them wanting more.” I would rather have people wish there had been more seasons than them going, “Oh, is that still on?””
In a recent interview with TVInsider, star Patrick Fabian did tease closure for the season three finale of Better Call Saul:
I will say that there’s a definite resolution, without a doubt, with what goes on in HHM. There’s no doubt about that. I can tell you that Kim and Howard get married in a crazy season three finale of Better Call Saul. You can print that.[Laughs]”
Even with closure, do you still want another season of Better Call Saul or, should the series be cancelled instead? Tell us what you think.
6/27/17 update: Better Call Saul has been renewed for a fourth season. Details here.
This funny, sad, smart show must be back! My family and friends all watch it and talk about it.
The show will be back for season four. I’m not even going to worry about it.
Definitely! More Saul Love this show.
Yes keep it going. Would like to see what finally pushes Saul into the underworld. And what happens to Kim? And no more Chuck, he’s finished.
I love this show. It’s so low-key, but it’s full of slimy double-dealing and people pushing themselves to the limits for the dolla dolla bills yo. I enjoy the slow pace and deep plot-line. I hope we get some post-breaking-bad content next season, like what does Saul have to do to survive now?
Heck yeah! One of the best shows on TV.
Please!!!!! DO NOT CANCEL this fantastic show!! I ADORE it!
There are so many more awesome stories to be told here!
I had my doubts when I first heard about this show premiere.
But I was won over in the first 5 minutes!
It has magic, just like Breaking Bad!!
Again, I am begging you, DO NOT CANCEL!!!!
Hell yes, there is plenty more story to tell
want more.. love Saul
Do you even have to ask that question? We’re hooked and need to know how this series finally meshes with Breaking Bad!
Season Four? Absolutely!
YESSSSSS PLEEZ!!!!!!!!!!!!!
There is so much to each character to go deeper into. We are just at the top of the
iceberg. We are reading a book and we just ended chapter 3. This is great writing and the only other is Shamless on Showtime.
Thank you to the Cast and Crew!!!
Great actors, excellent writers, extremely well developed story lines that support strongly the various character’s lives and back-stories and integrate nicely into a primary plot line that, reasonably, could take another two to three seasons to “conclude.”
More Jimmy please, NO MORE CHUCK!!!
Season 4, hell yeah! We all know there’s an end coming, but we’re not done with this story yet. There’s no way AMC can leave us hanging.
More Jimmy, NO MORE CHUCK!!!
