After two seasons on the air, The Bonnie Hunt Show has come to a close. The daytime talk show, featuring actress and comedienne Bonnie Hunt and sidekick and executive producer Don Lake, attracted a group of very devoted viewers but unfortunately there weren’t enough of them to keep the show on the air.
Original episodes of The Bonnie Hunt Show have been airing throughout May but the last episode actually taped was broadcast on Monday, May 10th. The guests on that show are actress Holly Robinson Peete (The Apprentice) and her husband, former NFL quarterback Rodney Peete, and Brody Jenner from The Hills.
The series finale is likely to be aired again before the show goes off the air but here are some clips of the fond farewell.
I have flipped through many talk shows over the years but never Bonnie’s show. It isn’t just her quick wit but how much she enjoys everyone. I love the way she always includes her crew and makes her guests feel so much at home. She has that Johnny Carson way of interviewing her guests with a little humility and a lot of good humor. I was shocked that she will no longer be on the air. What a loss but I know better things will come her way because she is a “talent” that wont go away. Bonnie, I will… Read more »
The word “amazing” is so overused right now but it’s appropriate to use here because it’s just what Bonnie Hunt and her staff are – “amazing.” Every day they put together an entertaining, thoughtful, clever show that is just as good as Ellen and Oprah. I loved Bonnie’s mom and the “feel good moment of the day” clips in addition to the guest interviews. Would love it if the head executives would reconsider because this show was definitely worth watching.
well, i guess we all have to buy Barbara Ehrenreich’s downer view of the world now that bonnie hunt is off the air..she was soooo dang positive and really made me feel as if “humaness” was in vogue..i quit watching or taping any morning early afternoon shows..they just aren’t bonnie..i sure miss alice and all the cast and the animals and and and
ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh shoot
Good show. I don’t really watch any daytime show faithfully as I’m mostly at school when the show is on. But it was a great show. I do wonder what they’re going to do with the empty time slot. I have a friend who would be a good talk show host if he wanted to be one. But, hopefully they find a good replacement.
I have enjoyed watching this very entertaining actress/comedian for a lot of years. I was so glad to see her host her daytime show. It was entertaining, clean, and felt like we were watching family.
I pray that Bonnie Hunt and her mother, Alice, and the staff remain true to their convictions and bring us all another talk show with the same dependable family entertainment.
Please don’t change. Even if it means we have you for only a little while, it gives us hope we aren’t alone in trying to hold onto our values and our faith.
I didn’t find out about the Bonnie Show until Dec 2009 from a friend who was a faithful watcher. I discovered it was airing in Orlando, FL @ 11 a.m. I work so therefore I taped it to watch in the evening. I quit taping Oprah and found it much more entertaining to watch the Bonnie Hunt Show and think she is truly a down-to-earth, quick thinking, and geniune person. I loved the show. I just don’t think the word got out about her show. Sad it’s gone. I am watching the re-runs now. I hope we see more of… Read more »
I loved her show! I cannot believe it was canceled. Bonnie is so genuine and kind, intelligent and hilarious. I remember I watched her interview one person who related a story that was rolling on the floor funny. Then I saw the same person relate the same story on another talk show and it fell flat…the difference was the person doing the interview. I think someone should let Bonnie do a Carol Burnett type of show. Bonnie and Don have such an aptitude for being extemporaneous and hilarious. Her show will be missed by many people I know personally.
I think Bonnie is an excellent actress, very funny and overall a sweet and genuine person. I hope that all of us who watched her show faithfully will keep a little of her goodness inside of us to be shared with others. I wish you nothing but the best Bonnie Hunt. I will miss watching your smiling face everyday and all the sweet things you do for people and animals. Take Care and Good Luck , always.
I have been watching the Bonnie Hunt Show since it first started and I am very dissappointed to find out that there won’t be another season. Boy the network that looks after this show is making a huge mistake by continuing this show. Bonnie’s show is fantastic and REAL and these days that is rare sure we have reality TV but that isn’t real. Bonnie and her crew are fantastic I love the way she includes everyone in her shows including the audience. Bonnie is a gem and has amazing guests and I love the fact that she loves animals… Read more »
@HB: Bonnie’s personality is incredibly well suited for a talk show. She really engages her guests, unlike certain other hosts who just like to play games with (or on) her guests. As a baby boomer, I loved all the old-timers she had as guests, like Mary Tyler Moore, Dick Van Dyke, Carl Reiner, and Carol Burnett. She could relate to them so much better than any other talk show host I’ve seen. And boy is she quick — that improv background really serves her well in a talk show format. Not to mention how she also helped all those dogs… Read more »
@MaryAnn Dumond: None of the talk show hosts I watch exploit folks but then again I don’t watch Jerry Springer and the like. Again, I love Bonnie Hunt but being a nice positive person doesn’t make you an excellent talk show host. I really hope she goes back to performing again.
I remember when I first saw the Bonnie Hunt show I thought to myself, “Who on earth gave this woman a show?” but as the episode went on and as I watched several episodes after, I was hooked. The word I’d use to describe Bonnie is GENUINE. She is just so genuine…so real!! The show was refreshing and broke up the monotony of daytime television. I’m really going to miss this show a lot and I’m going to miss seeing Bonnie everyday on my television. I sincerely hope for the best for her and her incredible staff. Another sad cancellation… Read more »
I don”t think her show is any less view than Ellen. I watch her daily since I have become disableld and have found that most people that remember the Dean Martin Show also love Bonnie. I only hope they reconsider. She even better than the Jery Springer Show, and look how long that was carried daily Big Fan Michael G.
Whatever happened to here best friend Holly?
Unfortunately, HB, you’re right in one way. She didn’t ‘fit the profile’ as the everyday talk show host. She didn’t ‘exploit’ people. She is kind and thoughtful, sweet natured and family oriented, as are the rest of her staff. Everyone loves Bonny. Heaven forbid we should have someone like HER hosting a talk show! That is a sad commentary on our times, that the majority of viewers prefer the gossip laden formats with mean-spirited participants and foul language to the clean, funny commentary we got from our Bonny. I, for one, am very sad to see her and her team… Read more »
OMG, I spelled her name wrong! Forgive me, BONNIE.
Must have had a ‘senior moment’. 😉
I have no clue why she was given a talk show because she just doesn’t fit well as a talk show host at all to me. But her sitcom Life with Bonnie was too funny and should’ve never been canceled so soon. I hope she goes back to acting full time because that is where she truly shines.
I LOVE her as a talk show host!!!!!! The Bonnie Hunt was my favorite show! I will miss it:(
