Self-help author Tony Robbins has moved from infomercials to primetime. Are his series’ ratings positive enough for the TV show to stick around?
In Breakthrough with Tony Robbins, the host helps families overcome tough life challenges so that they can heal, “break through,” and reach their full potential. Last night’s installment centers around Frank and Kristen Alioto, a California couple. At their wedding reception, he broke his neck in a swimming accident and was left a paraplegic.
While Robbins was able to help them, the ratings for the premiere were anything but positive. The first episode attracted a meager 0.8 rating in the 18-49 demographic and just 3.13 million viewers (per the overnights). Those numbers put the program in fourth place for the timeslot in both categories. What’s more, viewership fell between the first and second half hours, a sign that those viewers probably won’t be back next week.
NBC commissioned six episodes of this series. With numbers like these, they surely won’t be ordering any more and it’s looking unlikely that the network will even end up airing all that they already have.
What do you think? Is Breakthrough with Tony Robbins worth watching or would you just cancel it now? Cancel or keep it?

Definitely keep it. We can all benefit from a show that enlightens and empowers us. The fact that it comes from someone who truly cares is obvious.
Tony was great and Frank and Kristen were amazing. It’s about time that we have quality TV that focuses on the positive and not crappy vote-em-off-the island “reality” shows.
maybe tony can help with the gulf oil spill – I think his big butt would be just large enough to fill the hole
Um…keep. No matter what.
I had to search to find the show. I don’t think NBC did a great job of promoting it.
Keep it, It always takes a while to get things going and to find it. I just barely heard about it and I am a T. Robbins fan. So give it a minute. this kind of information for the price of an hour of your time and your cable bill is a gift to America, and a very valuable thing to our society! Here here NBC, I appreciate a network putting a valuable program out to the public.
I really enjoyed this first episode… It makes me want to become a life coach! I hope the ratings go up, and NBC keeps it, because Tony is an amazing and inspiring person that has definitely helped shape my life for the positive. I’ve listened to his tapes since High School!
I watched the first Breakthrough and have to say it was one of the best shows on TV. Finally TV that inspires, teaches, and provides an hour of possibilites about what the human spirit is all about. Regardless of whatever the ratings are, it is an A+ program.
we really need more shows like this one! I really hope they keep it!
This show was outstanding. Tony did a terrific job.
One thing for sure is that if you keep doing the things you’ve always been doing, you will get what you have always been getting. With this in mind don’t you think America could use a bit of a change in terms of the results they have been getting lately?
Keep the show. We all need it.

I just found out about this show and watched it first time. I absolutely love it. I believe it not only helped the couple reinforce their marriage and give them hope, it will reach out to others facing difficult situations. We need more shows on TV that emphasize family, staying together, and giving anyone hope in these difficult times. There are many people hurting in this world who need positive reinforcement and I believe this show could really help. My positive belief is in Jesus Christ but not everyone is a believer.
We absolutely loved the WHOLE show. It showed not only how the married couple was helped, but how you could change your life with some ‘out of the box’ things.
With all the other non-help shows floating around, please keep one that will do good for those who watch. It makes you feel good when you finish watching it!
KEEP, pleeeeease!! We should have MORE inspirational shows like this and I was very impressed with all that he achieved with the couple on the first episode. I cannot wait to see more! It all makes great sense and is REAL…
This show reflects an emotional connectional with strangers that touches the very soul of anyone that has experienced challenges in their life without hope and inspiration. I didn’t imagine I could connect with this amazing couple given the age difference and the fortunate lifestyle and success I’ve experienced in my life. But I did and I couldn’t wait to see how Tony was going to change their life. Any new launch takes time to build an audience base especially with the junky-addictive reality shows presently on all of the networks. If nothing else it’s real life, the program has great… Read more »
Its the show that makes the hairs stands up on your arms.
Go Tony
KEEP IT!
The show was excellent and inspiring. I’m tired of so much negativity on TV,
ESPECIALLY the reality shows. This was a breath of fresh air. I do feel that this
young couple made a turning point in their lives for the better and it showed that
life can still be good regardless of personal tragedies. People can move on. I’ll
definitely watch this show and have told several friends about it.
