Self-help author Tony Robbins has moved from infomercials to primetime. Are his series’ ratings positive enough for the TV show to stick around?
In Breakthrough with Tony Robbins, the host helps families overcome tough life challenges so that they can heal, “break through,” and reach their full potential. Last night’s installment centers around Frank and Kristen Alioto, a California couple. At their wedding reception, he broke his neck in a swimming accident and was left a paraplegic.
While Robbins was able to help them, the ratings for the premiere were anything but positive. The first episode attracted a meager 0.8 rating in the 18-49 demographic and just 3.13 million viewers (per the overnights). Those numbers put the program in fourth place for the timeslot in both categories. What’s more, viewership fell between the first and second half hours, a sign that those viewers probably won’t be back next week.
NBC commissioned six episodes of this series. With numbers like these, they surely won’t be ordering any more and it’s looking unlikely that the network will even end up airing all that they already have.
What do you think? Is Breakthrough with Tony Robbins worth watching or would you just cancel it now? Cancel or keep it?

NBC is making a huge mistake – they did not market this show. I found it by accident and was recording due to business travel. Tony Robbins is a great inspiration and with all the challenges facing people today, it is absolutely crazy to cancel such a posityive and motivating show. Don’t give us more of the same old crap NBC – this one is a winner!!!!
Wow! What a shame. As a society, don’t we notice that if shows like “Jersey Shores”, “Desperate Housewives”, “Atlanta Housewives”, “Entourage”, “RuPaul-Drag Queen” and other reality junk and mindless TV programming fuels your mind & soul with crap and degenerate data that our younger generation doesn’t need exposure too and the kind of influence that those programs remedy? In Tony’s “Breakthrough-series” there were so many lessons of possibility and decision making empowerment to learn from. WE NEED MORE of this kind of mainstream TV programming. What is going on with America? The quality of mainstream TV is so inappropriate for… Read more »
Definitely worth keeping. This is the kind of push I needed to get in my life. Personally I have seen the result when I apply the skills to my relationships and business. I’m clearer have more insight because I listened, and then choose what was right for me. Thanks Tony – keep living with Passion
This show is incredible! I’m so glad it was created and we need more shows like this!
It’s a must keep! Guys, don’t get “fooled” by the numbers…. If only 1/3 of the viewers would get inspired by the show, that would be 1 000 000 more happy, inspired and energetic people to look after in this “winter” times…. If you want the world to become a better place, keep the show, if you want to continue life in misery and poverty (not financial, but emotional poverty) then cancel it, but at least sell it to some Internet broadcaster!!! It is very said to see the way corporations & business are trying to make us their sheep.… Read more »

I love Tony but as a first shot at a prime time this was not his best material – after all who can REALLY relate to what happened to the couple in the first episode… Seriously, this is mainstream TV PRIME TIME… The fact of the matter is that the mainstream viewer with beer gut and chips in his hand does not really see or can relate to this – aka what’s in it for ME??? Thus the ratings – like I said I love Tony he was one of the inspirations in pursuing my dreams of being a magician… Read more »
Robbins is a con artist and snake oil salesman of the worst sort. Glad to see the majority of america saw through his horseshit and changed the channel.
You’re a Rabbi and you judge people with that kind of comment??? What a hypocrite you are and a poor ambassador of religion for that matter. If you’ve read or know Tony Robbins you would have some respect and certainly some crediable commentary but instead you’re ignorant and most likely festor in the drama of complaint, criticism and condemnation. I hope you are not raising children because you don’t qualify in character to be priviledged.
I loved it! It’s the only show I look forward to watching and the others are sadly all glitz and glam and action….and that is it! I want to be inspired and uplifted. It’s the only show out there that does this. Keep it! Please!
I love the show! It is so inspiring and uplifting. Tony Robbins gives step-by-step guidance that, if viewers took each step themselves, could improve their lives. It also helps individuals be thankful for the many blessings they have in their lives, if they just take time to consider them. Instead of comparing our lives and what we have with others who have more, and then feeling sorry for ourselves, we should compare our lives with others who have less, and we will discover the many things we have for which to be thankful. I constantly thank God throughout the day… Read more »

Wonderful Show Keep It
I think the show is very inspiring. It brought me to tears and also made me think. It never hurts anybody to “think”. I like the show
Cancel. Tony is a great guy but he’s not a personal/personable guy and everything about him is great on CDs and from afar in a large stadium, but up-close he’s too much.
