Starz has decided to cancel their Camelot TV series after one season. While the ratings weren’t bad for the Arthurian show, the numbers aren’t necessarily the whole reason why there won’t be a second season.
Camelot, as you might have guessed, is based on the legend of King Arthur. The series stars Jamie Campbell Bower as a young King Arthur, with Joseph Fiennes as Merlin, Eva Green as Morgan, and Tamsin Egerton as Guinevere.
The premiere attracted 1.1 million viewers with a 0.5 rating in the 18-49 demographic. That marked the cable channel’s most-watched and highest-rated original series premiere to date. Unfortunately, the second installment dropped 24% in total viewership and subsequent episodes dropped even further. Still, by the end of the season, the ratings were on an upswing. The finale nearly matching the viewership of the premiere.
While Camelot may have ordinarily ended up getting a renewal from Starz, the ratings weren’t the only factor in play.
A statement from a Starz representative notes, “Due to significant production challenges, Starz has decided not to exercise the option for subsequent seasons of Camelot with our production partners GK-tv, Octagon Films and Take 5 Productions.” Deadline reports that some of those “challenges” included scheduling conflicts with some of the actors.
What do you think? Are you sorry to hear that Camelot has been cancelled? Would you have liked to have seen a second season?

really? thanks stars….No season 2? what a joke….but they can rerun snookie and garbage?
I smell the end of humanity.
OMG! This is soo upsetting! I barely watch Television, but i was hooked on Camelot! The best story line I’ve seen in so long! Starz…. PLEASE BRING BACK CAMELOT! :*-(
I really enjoyed the series. I was so looking forward to the next series. I am very disappointed it will not be returning.
WHAT! can’t believe STARZ cancelled this great show…maybe I will cancel you STARZ! bad, bad decision.
What… are they dumb? This was a fantastic series, NOT made up of cheesy acting and horrible swordplay like other medieval TV series. My vote is a thumbs up for future production!
I cannot believe what I have just heard and I truly question the “powers that be”!!! The ratings were there and by word of mouth it was gaining. This absolutely demonstrates the fact that American viewers will “settle” for the garbage of endless reality shows with has-been celebrities, mindless personal degrading competition shows that leave people needing therapy, repetitive sitcoms, and redundant movies. You want to see RATINGS, Startz? Just watch what dropping this series will do to your precious ratings NOW!!!
That’s That Bulls**t! Camelot was a great show, a show that I feel wasn’t properly showcased, nor given an adequate chance. Hopefully, the producers of the show will “shop” their option around. Starz…that was a real “dummy move” on your part.
Wise Up!
Starz sucks now…Camelot was the greatest series that they had, and now they are gonna take it off…what a crock of crap!!! There goes my late night shows with the tv now, lol. I was ready and waiting for next season….i hate freaking cliff hangers, that never start back up!
Why leave us hanging? This was a great show.
Another great show gone!!!! And I really wanted to see a second season!!
This was packed with stars. I love eve green. Tamsin is amazingly beautiful. I bet trouble keeping this cast together. Tamsin is the real up n comer. Eve green plays such a wicked face.
Sorry stars you suck. Where do you get your info. Can another station bring it back.
its was nice while it lasted its too ****** bad they trashed it starz sucks
Starz…Cancel the series? I should cancel you. YOUR NETWORK SUCKS!
Brian,
I did this with the FOX network. I don’t think these TV execs get it until we actually stop paying for their crap!
this was a perfect show for DVR… I enjoyed the entire season in one night, fast forwarding through most of it… I did like the different takes on the characters… something different… nothing will be kissed though…
I love stories such as camelot and was one of the greatest series made, to not continue is a very big disapointment and a minus toward Starz. So many good touching movies and really great talent in the actors for there characters in were so realistic and keeps you always wanting to continue in the coming events. So sad to see such great movies taken off and so many trashy stupid ones continue.
I feel as all things that are good are taken from us and brought so much cause to our lives. Entertainment is not ours to choose!
