It’s never a good sign when some of the staff of a struggling show take on other jobs. That’s just what’s happened with some of the personnel from FOX’s Human Target and NBC’s The Cape.
According to Deadline, Human Target’s executive producer, Brad Kern, has been hired as the executive producer and showrunner of ABC’s dramatic pilot called Poe. The series follows the adventures of Edgar Allen Poe, a macabre writer and “the world’s first detective,” as he uses unconventional methods to solve dark mysteries in Boston during the 1840s. Kern also previously ran Charmed for The WB.
Meanwhile, The Cape’s showrunner, John Wirth, has been tapped as executive producer and showrunner for The CW’s drama pilot called Cooper & Stone. This project follows two young female detectives from Chicago’s North Side. They’re best friends who discuss fashion and pop-culture while solving homicides. Wirth was previously a co-showrunner on FOX’s Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles.
Neither Human Target nor The Cape have been officially cancelled. However, The Cape’s episode order was recently cut and the show’s ratings continue to fall so its widely considered to be doomed.
Human Target’s future isn’t as clear. The show had a disappointing season, averaging a 1.7 in the 18-49 demographic and 6.4 million viewers. That’s down 24% in the demo when compared to last season’s average. On the positive side, the series’ ratings picked up in the last few weeks and endured several schedule changes so there’s still a small chance that it could return for season three. We’ll know by May.
What do you think? If you had to choose between Human Target and The Cape, which would you chose?
Keep Human Target: Good story lines so far, and we need to see what happens with Chance and Ilsa. Mark Valley, Chi McBride and Jackie Earle Haley make a perfect crime-stopping ensemble. Toss in the sultry Indira Varma and you can’t lose. How about we get out of the kitchen [nightmares] and back into the living room with some quality entertainment in place of those imbecilic reality shows.
Please keep the Cape and Human Target. I love them. They gave the Event another shot, so why not those other 2?
Like both shows but Human Target , I love! They need to show more Gurrero back story
I love human target and will truly be upset if it is not renewed.
Correction to previous post – PLEASE FOX, DON’T CANCEL IT!
I too love this show! Please, please, NBC, don’t do anything stupid like canceling it.
The Human Target cast compliment each other and bring action, humor and fun into this weekly TV series. I like the additions of the two very different ladies. Its’ one of my family’s favorite shows and we would be disappointed if it were to be cancelled. As it was previously pointed out by another fan, we’re sick of reality shows. The ‘what’s your talent’ sort of shows are becoming over populated as well. Criminal Minds and CSI (two of my former favs) have become more and more gruesome and no longer family friendly. Please bring back Human Target! The writers… Read more »
We enjoy Human Target. We tried watching The Cape with hopes of a Heroes type production but were disappointed. I agree with Joe somewhat about adding the female head in Ilsa. I like the girl who was learning from Guererro, but wasn’t to excited about Ilsa at forst. I thought they brought it around ok, but preferred the ‘rougher’ version of the 1st season. Would hate to see it go, especially after the initial delay in bringing it back and then changing the days and times it was one. Fox seemed to be following NBC’s show scheduling process, make so… Read more »
To be honest, I’d say that the second season is a huge disappointment and in retrospect it’s no surprise that the show is doing worse than last year. That season has nothing to do with what I was watching last year. A former assassin trying to level his karma by saving people, his mysterious past catching up on him, where did that all go this season? It took them exactly five minutes into the first episode to get rid of all this. The decision from the suits to add female characters to increase the number of potential viewers is a… Read more »

Human target is an amazing show, reminiscent of great action shows of the past such as The A-Team and Renegade…I would be terribly disappointed if they decide to cancel this great show!!!
I would be thoroughly dissappointed if human target was cancelled. The cast is perfect. I look forward to every episode. Hot chicks, great action scenes and gurerro, nuff said
I really like the show. When I had to choose between Criminal Minds and Human Target as they were airing at the same time, I always watch Human Target. I will be disappointed if it is cancelled.
WHEN PEOPLE ARE WILING TO PAID $30.00 INCLUDING TAX FOR 15 EPISODES OF HUMAN TARGET INSTEAD OF THE USUAL 22 episodes SHOULD TELL THE PRODUCERS OF THE SHOW SOMETHING. MY MARINE HUSBAND ALMOST CRIED WHEN IT LOOKED LIKE ILSA WAS LEAVING THE SHOW. ME AND MY GIRLFRIENDS CERTAINLY ENJOY ALL THE MALE “EYE CANDY” IN THE ACTION SCENES,
