It looks like Chiller is being killed off. Deadline reports NBCUniversal is shutting down the channel after 10 years.
The horror-centric cable channel primarily broadcasts horror films and older TV shows like Alfred Hitchcock Presents, Tales from the Crypt, and The Twilight. The network premiered its first and only original scripted drama, Slasher, in 2016.
According to Deadline, Chiller is being axed because major TV providers like Dish, Cox, and Spectrum have dropped the channel from their lineup. The channel is scheduled to close at the end of 2017.
What do you think? Do you watch Chiller? What will you miss about the cable channel?
I am super upset! I picked the direct tv package just because it had Chiller! Now I don’t have my favorite channel! Ugh! I already got upset with direct Tv telling them this is the only reason I got their super deluxe package, just for Chiller!
This is not right. Lots’ of folks like me can’t get out to the movies or subscribe to multiple outlets to find unusual tv they enjoy. I think this is a terrible mistake and I won’t watch any program that is NBC based. I have to protest someway and this is the only way I know. Please reconsider.
That is another NBC screw-up! Greedy people!
Absolutely a huge hit to cable and yet another point for streaming, Chiller gives us old series marathons of great (or at least heavily nostalgic) shows like ‘The Twilight Zone’, ‘Monsters’, ‘Friday The 13th: The Series’, just to name drop a few. ‘Slasher’ was a strange experiment, but when Netflix bought the right and took over, I started to rly worry about the Network… Looks like I had a right to. Absolutely no one wants to see Chiller exit, this could’ve been a rly cool streaming op for NBC. Maybe they can take the library they’ve amassed and add it… Read more »
The rumor is that NBC universal wanted too much money for this channel. Verizon dropped it also. Shame on You NBC Universal. Greedy Jerks.
The channel I’ve been waiting for Comcast to get forever. Oh. Well. R. I. P.
I liked the old shows like Twilight Zone and Hitchcock. And I’m surprised there wasn’t enough of a fan base to sustain the channel. But I think such shows are not hi-tech FX enough for modern viewers. I don’t know whether that’s a compliment to the FX producers or a testament to how much viewer imagination is being machined out of entertainment.
