The doctor is out. There won’t be a second season of the Complications TV show. USA Network has decided to cancel the drama series after one season of 10 episodes.
Complications follows a disillusioned suburban doctor (Jason O’Mara) who’s still dealing with the emotional effects of his young daughter’s death from cancer. He unexpectedly becomes a vigilante hero when he intervenes in a drive-by shooting, saving a 12-year-old boy’s life. The rest of the cast includes Jessica Szohr, Lauren Stamile, Chris Chalk, Beth Riesgraf, and RonReaco Lee.
The series got off to a lackluster start in the ratings in late June with a 0.41 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 1.91 million viewers. Viewership saw a big drop in week two and remained pretty poor for the rest of the season. The 10 episodes ended up averaging a 0.35 in the demo with 1.44 million.
Except for Suits, all of USA’s existing dramas have been way down year-to-year and none of their new ones have been a hit in the ratings (including Mr. Robot).
Despite Complications’ ratings challenges, USA was still considering bringing the show back for a second season. Deadline reports that execs had secured a four-day extension on the cast contracts while they made their final decision. Execs tried to work out an economically feasable deal with Fox 21 TV Studios for a second season but, in the end, it didn’t happen.
The final episode of Complications aired on August 13th.
What do you think? Did you like the Complications TV show? Do you think that it should have been cancelled? Would you have watched a second season, perhaps on another channel?
Omg I can’t believe it was cancelled. I looked forward to watching ccomplications every week! Please bringit back. Maybe it would get more viewers if it was on another channel.
started out good but soon got to weird, no one could do everything the good doctor did and not be caught. If this was the replacement for White Collar, you really missed the mark…
it shouldnt be canceled tbh is a great show
Yes I liked the show ! Everyone that I know likes it. You should not have cancelled the series
This was a great show I’m greatly disappointed as my husband and I were looking forward to a second season. We watched the first season in less than a week. It had great suspense and kept you on the edge of your seat. Was a nice change from the typical cop, doctor or lawyer shows out there. Good actors.
Yes!! I really enjoyed this show. It had a great storyline. I was looking forward to season 2. Yes I would watch Complications on another channel.
I loved this show. Loved the concept. Why is it that good shows get axed? And shows that are stupid continue to go on for years. I don’t get it. Nobody’s asking me what I want. Somebody needs to get a hold of me. I should be part of the Nielsen family!
I’d watch that show on any channel. It was refreshing to see a well-written show for a change. Disappointing that it was nixed after one season.
I would really like to see the show come back I really enjoyed the show and the storyline
Wish you would bring this series back. So much more potential.
Just finished watching the last of this year’s series and was really hoping that it would be renewed. It was an intense and interesting series with excellent acting and directing and writing. Hopefully it will be reconsidered by TNT or find another home as I would be very interested in seeing more of this show.
I loved this series!! It is intense and something different. I really hope it isn’t canceled!
So disappointed. I was invested in this show to only learn it is not being picked up for a second season. The pace is fast and exciting. Showing that decisions are not so black and white like usual shows is unique and I felt thought provoking. Also, the acting of the actors is excellent and believable.
Typical. It a show dares to be DIFFERENT from the usual, mundane crime drama (a crime happens, police or whoever investigate, you think the guilty person is one person in the first half hour and then the real perp is caught the second half hour, problem solved, show over) then it doesn’t last. What is wrong with these executives who are afraid of making good tv for smart people? Shows like this, Jericho, The Event, etc- that don’t have a resolution in an hour, never last. So disappointing. This was one of the fastest paced and best new shows I… Read more »
Really enjoyed this show. It was so much better than the usual summer fare! The doctor was very well played as was his the nurse who helped keep him alive. The pace of the show was excellent. I think part of the problem with USA series’ in general is that USA does not have a strong identity for good programming. Suits is outstanding and their best effortwith a great cast. “Complications” deserved another season. It had great potential and the lead actors were so good.
It started out good but turned to **** by episode 6 or 7. It became too boring and predictable.
Good riddance.
