Last season, The CW launched four new scripted TV shows during the regular season and cancelled two of them. This time around, the network will be programming six nights a week, instead of five. How many shows will be cancelled or renewed during the 2018-19 season? Stay tuned.
There’s lots of data that network execs look at when deciding whether to renew or cancel a TV series but ratings are the major ingredient. These charts will be updated daily, as new ratings data becomes available.
CW shows (so far): The 100, All American, Arrow, The Big Stage, Black Lightning, Bulletproof, Burden of Truth, Charmed, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, Dynasty, The Flash, Hypnotize Me, I Ship It, In the Dark, iZombie, Jane the Virgin, Legacies, Masters of Illusion, My Last Days, Mysteries Decoded, The Outpost, Pandora, Red Bull Peaking, Riverdale, Roswell New Mexico, Supergirl, Supernatural, and Two Sentence Horror Stories.
Note: If you’re not seeing the updated charts, please try reloading the page. You can also view them here and here.
A couple of notes about these charts:
These figures are updated automatically as new ratings are released. The averages are based on the final national numbers (live plus same day viewing), unless marked with an asterisk (*). For technical reasons, I have to resort them manually so feel free to let me know if I missed something.
Keep in mind that the demo numbers are typically what’s most important to advertisers. Therefore, that’s how the networks measure success. Advertisers pay more for ad time on a show that has a higher demo rating. Because older viewers don’t count? No, it’s because younger viewers watch less traditional TV and are harder to reach.
Demo numbers are typically reported using the 10ths decimal place (2.4, for example). In the averages, I’m using an extra decimal for easier ranking. The networks take into account when shows air on Fridays and Saturdays, nights when TV viewership is lower.
What do you think? Are you surprised by any of the ratings? Which shows should be doing better? Which one do you think will be cancelled next?
all of them are all my favorite shows but there are only two i really don’t care fore and that is Arrow and black lighting and i really don’t like it that there might be a batwoman series that might be coming other world i love all the other shows like Supergirl The Flash and The Legends of tomorrow and i keep hoping that there will be a superman series some time soon and a green lantern series as will and i hope there will be other shows in the future with a whole lot more superheros..
The acting and story lines of Arrow this season should catapult the show. The CW is very lucky to have an actor of Stephen Amell’s caliber.
Everyone I know likes black lightening, arrow and flash, the problems with the ratings fluctuating is how it stop being upbeat programs that saves and help good people to being a whole lot of darkness and most are attracted to good and pure. Fight and win , uplift trampled darkness is what the light does
The reason Dynasty is so low is due to it barely being promoted and fans really want Fallon & Liam together
How to calculate ratings? I have L+7 info and I’m trying to figure it out
Just please keep The Flash. It is my favorite show on air right now! lol. I am so ready for the second half of the season to come on!
With Crisis of Infinite Earths already planned, we know Flash, Supergirl and Arrow will all be back. But, we kinda know that as they + Supernatural and Riverdale make up the CW top 5.
Supernatural NEEDS to cancel already it’s on like 15th season already. Like come on
If u don’t like it then that’s ur problem there are many people that LOVE IT
SUPERNATURAL FOREVER
The fact that it has survived this long is a testament to how good the show is. Especially with the fact they are #2 in overall viewers. So long as Supernatural continues to come up with new content I’ll continue to support them. Being a supernatural fan is like being part of a family
Cancel The Flash, Supergirl and Black Lightening or sell them to Disney channel, Keep Arrow only.
Arrow should end with an abbreviated season next fall concluding with the Crisis crossover.
But doesn’t Arrow have a higher 18-49 demographic than supernatural and a higher viewer (millions) than supergirl?
Supergirl has a high viewer count than Arrow. Plus Supergirl moved to a new night for CW. Arrow is performing below what Supergirl was doing on Mondays. All three of these shows are top 5 for CW, so none should be cancelled this season.
Supergirl started slow this season after it killed in the previous with the Reign. That said, now it is awesome again. Manchester rules, Lena is pure gold, Alex, Kara of course… greatest cast out of all Arrowverse shows!
I wasn’t a big fan of the Reign plot, but agree with the rest… Supergirl girl hit it out of the park with episode 8 directed by Kevin Smith… love Manchester Black.
Charmed should be canceled. It’s not that good. Disgrace to the original.
Disagree although I love the original this charm is good as well it is just different. If anything leagacies is a disgrace to the franchise and really bad actors
Both Legacies and Charmed are disgraces. Loved the original Charmed, TVD, and TO, but the new Charmed and Legacies are both awful. The acting in both is really poor and the plots are terrible. Besides, Legacies will just end with them all dead (just like TVD and TO), so you already know the finale. What’s the point of watching?
It’s quite good, not a disgrace to the original in any way. It’s in the top half of CW shows and deserves renewal.
Claps my hand, i dont think they should continue this reboot, i hope theres powerful demons somewhere and vanquish this fake sisters.
the DC shows could do better with ratings, arrow is finally a good show again and black lightning is underrated. If anything, I’d hope they cancel supergirl for focusing on politics too much because it’s bleeding out the storyline
Actually, I wish they’d just throw the politics out, for good, rather than cancel the show. This is a comic book show, the part of it I still like. No need to bring Tumblr BS into it. Blame Greg Berlanti and his PC agenda, that he chose to use on his female-led show, instead of his male-led shows.
Hmm, I wonder why… Couldn’t it be because men would rightfully abandon his shows if he did that, all while he assumes all women support this sort of thing, blindly?
They’ve never even blantly mentioned politics its about a rising hate group which only makes you think theyre mentioning real politcal issues cuz it feels so real to this time. Agent liberty was created in 91 and he was against the governmental regime of the CIA hence him joining sons of liberty so politcs has always been apart of superhero comics, tv and film soo you’re wrong if u think it only started with supergirl or that one specific producer had anything to do with that
Hint: It’s based on a comic with those themes!
Supergirl’s the best of the lot.
First, they don’t really mention politics, just hint at social issues that are similar to ones in our real life. Television and movies have done this from the beginning of time by the way. They are all essentially social commentaries on the time period they are portraying. It’s one of the things that help people identify with the show/movie. By the way, the comics that these specific CW shows pay homage to are extremely political. They’ve always pushed the social norms and been on the right side of history. If you have a problem with some of the social commentary… Read more »
i like these tv programming shows Supernatural arrow all dc shows, supergirl, legacies All American Dynasty please renew them for seasons
Arrow is awesome this season! What a comeback.
It’s probably because of the day switch
Supergirl has the most consistent ratings of any show. Supergirl got a 0.5 for almost every episode last season and starts out this season with a 0.5. Whether you like the show or not you have to admit Supergirl has a very loyal fanbase.
I would say Supernatural has the most loyal fan base of any show. 14 years in and its one of the most watched shows on the channel. If Charmed loses viewers, it’ll be #2 this week. I’m really impressed.
Loyal fanbase for a CW show anyway. Grey’s Anatomy also running for 15th season. And that SVU show is even longer.
It is imposible to compare these two shows. Supernatural is doing great to be a scifi show in CW channel. People seem it is a show for teens. All we know that it is much more than this.
Supernatural is the longest running US genre show. It is a great accomplishment considering all that it has endured through the years.
