It’s the end of the line for the Dallas TV show — for the second time. TNT has announced that they’ve cancelled the new Dallas TV show after three seasons.
A continuation of the successful CBS series from the 1970s, 80s and 90s, Dallas follows the machinations of two generations of the dysfunctional and powerful Ewing clan. The cast includes Josh Henderson, Jesse Metcalfe, Jordana Brewster, Julie Gonzalo, Brenda Strong, Patrick Duffy, Linda Gray, Mitch Pileggi, Emma Bell, Kuno Becker, and Juan Pablo Di Pace.
Year-to-year, season three of Dallas was down by 26% in viewership and down by 38% in the 18-49 demographic. It’s one of TNT’s lowest-rated scripted series and that certainly wasn’t a good sign for its chances of a fourth season.
In a statement, TNT said, “We are extremely proud of the series, which defied expectations by standing as a worthy continuation of the Ewing saga. We want to thank everyone involved with the show, from the extraordinary cast to the impeccable production team, led by the show’s creative forces, Cynthia Cidre and Mike Robin. We especially want to thank the people of Dallas for their warm and generous hospitality during the production of the series.”
Cidre and the writers have been working on scripts and ideas for a fourth season of Dallas so hopefully she’ll share what would have happened at some point.
What do you think? Will you miss the Ewings? Do you think it should have been cancelled or renewed for a fourth season? Would you watch it on another channel?
Calling all Texans, Tajanos! We need this show to air on any network who recognizes excellent writing and excellent acting. Dallas has it all, TNT dropped the ball w/o sufficient marketing on the launch.
I literally don my Lucchese boots and Stetson Hat to watch Dallas. I was so proud and so hopeful that a new generation of fans would find this show as significant and compelling as I have. In this great country, and in the great State of Texas, this show has struck on environmental issues mixed in with the Ewings always present moral issues. I’m mad about this show y’all!
Please Please Please bring Dallas back. I love that show. All the actors are great and do their job so well. I am heart broke that the show is cancelled. I would watch it on any channel. Omg what am I to do. CRYING
I have been a huge Dallas fan from the beginning back in the 1980’s. I visited the Southfork Ranch north of Dallas a couple of years ago then found out that a new Dallas show was going to be on, how exciting! Now you have taken the show off again! Please reinstate the show on any channel. The fans have a right to have Dallas back on each week to enjoy. Please bring the show back!
What is up with all these networks !!!!
I love Dallas. I have been a faithful follower since the old series.
What is going to replace it ,another realty show ?
There are so little programs on television now that we can follow
for years.I miss them !
Bring back Dallas,even if it’s another network,who cares !!!
The USA Network is the perfect place for Dallas. I am surprised it didn’t start there to begin with.
Dallas Dallas Dallas. The best show there is. And we want it backkkkkkkkkk!!
We watched the show when it first began with Miss Ellie, Jock, JR, Sue Ellen, Bobby and Pam. I think the TNT shows are even better. I just watched all three seasons on Netflix, and loved every minute of it. I am very very sorry to just read that it has been cancelled. That is just crazy.
TNT may have cancelled Dallas, but this much I guarantee such loyal viewers…we have not seen or heard the last of the Ewing clan! Here’s hoping you’ll keep the spirit of Dallas alive for a fourth season, Ms. Cidre!!
Man, I love that show, Dallas. The way they milked it out and split up the season though was a crime to us viewers. That alone is enough to make the TV people nervous. They had one heck of a great show on their network and they screwed everything up by making it a short short season losing continuity (at least for them anyway).
I hope a network that knows the value of this show will do it right for us (many many) fans.
I hope they bring this show back. I love watching Dallas . I really think that if it had been on one of the networks (CBS, NBC or ABC) it would have done a lot better in ratings. Not everyone has or can afford cable and waiting for it on Netfilx takes 4ever.
everyone i know loved that show they didnt think they would but it was a great continuation of the original dallas Please someone be smart and eithor TNT continue the show or someother network pick it up and give the fans what they want
We love ❤ the new Dallas and believe it deserves to continue. The trouble was the wait time for a new season and the uncertainty for the fans. It needed better and more strategic advertising to make sure the audience knew it was around and coming back. Where were the actors making talk show rounds. Why wasn’t the Hispanic viewership marketed since the story line included Latin actors had prominent roles? The producers should hire good marketers while they put effort into an outstanding production.
We want Dallas back on TV. C’mon you TV people. Let’s get it back on.
I am 53 yrs of age & I have watched Dallas from the very get go faithfully. I loved it then & love it as much now. The show was like one of my soap operas but definitely more intense. The kind of show that you couldn’t wait till Monday night to watch. The kind of show that had you on the edge of your seat waiting for something to happen. The cast is awesome! John Ross is so much like his father, it was like Jr year’s ago being corrupted as we all knew him to be & loved.… Read more »
I have to say that Larry Hagman and JR Ewing wouldn’t want the show to end lime it does and I have watched the show back throw the 80’s and 90’s and I loved it then and I live it even more now please TNT reconsider bring it back I beg you if not for the viewers than for Larry Hagman and most of JR Ewing
I can’t even tell you how much disappointment I am feeling with the cancellation of Dallas. I watched the show 30 some odd years ago and was thrilled to see its return. I was wary that it could live up to the original, but the twists and turns were still there! I even got my husband and son hooked! You have left us viewers with many unanswered questions. Please bring back our Ewings!!!!!!!!!!!!!
