The Family stars Joan Allen stars as Claire Warren, Alison Pill as Willa Warren, Rupert Graves as John Warren, and Zach Gilford as Danny Warren. Margot Bingham is Detective Nina Meyer. Liam James is Ben/Adam Warren. Andrew McCarthy is Hank Asher. Floriana Lima is Bridey Cruz. Young Willa and Danny are played by Madeleine Arthur and Rarmian Newton.

Claire finally realizes what Adam and Ben endured when she visits the hell hole-like tomb where they were kept, exploding with grief, anger and frustration. Meanwhile Jane looks to make a getaway as Nina closes in on Doug’s location, and Agent Clements’ time is running out. Hank comes face to face with his inner demons, and one phone call shatters Ben’s world, forcing him to tackle an uncertain destiny.

The Family was canceled due to low ratings. As of the May 8th episode, the series averaged 0.83 in the 18-49 year-old viewer demographic and drew an average total audience of 3.276 million viewers. We have been tracking 25 scripted ABC series during the 2015-16 television season. Those numbers leave The Family ranked 21st out of 25, when sorted by both the demo and total average audience.

ABC cancelled The Family on Thursday, May 12, 2016, so this first season finale was not written as an intentional TV series finale. If the audience will get sufficient closure or satisfaction from “What Took So Long,” remains to be seen.

You guys have to let us see adam make his way back home, for follow the story through and through, how can u drop all those bombs and not let us see the entire story…… this really sucks

I wish now I had not never started watching it. It is terrible to be left with the finale ending.
It makes me sick this was cancelled when there are so many worse shows on.
Please renew at least for another season. It was exciting to watch and finally there was something on Sunday evening.
This has been such a great, twisted serial, which we have really enjoyed. I was really looking forward to more episodes. There is still so much to clear up! PLEASE bring back at least another episode or 2 to tie up the loose ends.
I hate that they cancelled the show! It was so good and always left me wanting to see more. I think they chose the wrong season to air the show. If they would have released it in the fall, it would not have gotten cancelled.
This was our family’s Sunday night show. We can’t believe it has been canceled!! I hope another network picks it up. It was such a great cliffhanger! !
My husband and I enjoyed the show very much. And I would have liked to see where it would have gone from here. I am so tired of reality shows – I enjoy the dramas. Blood & Oil was another good show that was cancelled…..
I think it is so unprofessional of ABC to cancel “The Family” after only one season & then to leave us just hanging like that.It was the best finale of any show I’ve ever seen. This show was very well done!!! I hope another network takes it back on. Your loss CBS. Very,Very VERY Disappointed in you. This show was the BEST !!!
This show was the best thing on TV this season! I looked forward to each week and found that I was hanging on the edge of my seat during every episode. So many twists and turns! It was great! ABC is absolutely crazy for canceling. Big mistake! I hope Netflix or another network will pick it up.

My husband & I have watched FAMILY since it’s premier. Its trailor (seen in the middle of the day on TVLAND) caught my eye & intrigued me so much that I immediately searched for the program & set our DVR to record the series. And I am here to say, having watched every episode to date, the show not only thoroughly entertained my husband & I both, but it also kept us on the edge of our seats totally looking forward to next week’s episode!!!!
