Liam James is Ben/Adam Warren. Andrew McCarthy is Hank Asher. Floriana Lima is Bridey Cruz. Young Willa and Danny are played by Madeleine Arthur and Rarmian Newton.

Claire finally realizes what Adam and Ben endured when she visits the hell hole-like tomb where they were kept, exploding with grief, anger and frustration. Meanwhile Jane looks to make a getaway as Nina closes in on Doug’s location, and Agent Clements’ time is running out. Hank comes face to face with his inner demons, and one phone call shatters Ben’s world, forcing him to tackle an uncertain destiny.

The Family was canceled due to low ratings. As of the May 8th episode, the series averaged 0.83 in the 18-49 year-old viewer demographic and drew an average total audience of 3.276 million viewers. We have been tracking 25 scripted ABC series during the 2015-16 television season. Those numbers leave The Family ranked 21st out of 25, when sorted by both the demo and total average audience.

ABC cancelled The Family on Thursday, May 12, 2016, so this first season finale was not written as an intentional TV series finale. If the audience will get sufficient closure or satisfaction from “What Took So Long,” remains to be seen.

The Family should not be canceled. We enjoyed the suspense and twists; it is nice to get away from so many reality shows. Give the show a second season to prove itself.
Just devastated ABC cancelled The Family. Insult to injury…on my birthday, May 12. ‘The Family’, is the best written, most gripping show I’ve watched in, oh, ever. I loved this show! But my friends couldn’t watch it. Too deeply disturbing they said. Ugh!! Mourning. And I’ve never mourned a canceled show in my life.
Get rid of the played out bachelor/bachelorette show
ABC needs to find some room for this show. Move away from some of the not funny comedies and find a time slot that works for The Family it is a great show
This was a great show and I can’t believe it was canceled! Disappointed in ABC.
Bring the show back!!!!! It just got to an extremely good part and so much could come from season 2!! I would love to see how the battle between Ben and Adam will come about for Adams life and how Clair will react to her son being alive!!! This show is by far my favorite.
They did the same thing with American Crime. It just disppeared in the winter…no notice.. ABC is losing many viewers…and yes cancel some other dumb reality show!
It “disappeared” because the season was over. It will be back next year.

This is a great, twisted TV show and instead of giving it a chance, the network cancels it after one season? Meanwhile, Shonda has taken over the network; maybe be it should be RBC instead of ABC. Why is Gray’s still on, anyway? Give The Family a chance to prove itself…geesh.

I am VERY upset The Family is being cancelled! I only started watching this when I found it in hulu, and am hooked. I don’t think there was good enough advertising or promoting of this show. I had never heard of it before, but think it is an amazing show. Great storyline, and it keeps you on the edge of your seat. ABC you are making a huge mistake and I am very disappointed!
I’m VERY disappointed ABC cancelled this show! I agree with another comment, people watch from recordings more than on scheduled nights. I rarely watch The Family on Sunday nights because I have five kids! It’s Tuesday night and I just watched the finale. Season 2 would have been great! ABC made a huge mistake. Please bring it back!
