Big news! At today’s CBS session of the Television Critics Association press tour, President of CBS Entertainment Nina Tassler mentioned Flashpoint.
The series is produced in Canada for the CTV network and licensed by CBS. Its run for three seasons on CBS to moderate success. At last summer’s press tour, Tassler said that she hadn’t decided about ordering more episodes. The show went off the air in September 2010 and hasn’t been mentioned by the network since. The show has yet to be renewed by CBS but CTV has commissioned a fourth season that’s currently in production.
Today, Tassler said that the network still has a half dozen of unaired episodes of Flashpoint sitting on the shelf. The network will “most likely” air them over the summer. She didn’t touch on the series’ future but it seems Flashpoint is pretty clearly not on the network’s priority list.
What do you think? Will Flashpoint return this summer? Will CBS purchase season four?
Please bring Flashpoint back. It is a very good show and we need more shows like this.
I hope they come back….loved this show….they are deleting to many good shows…..
If CBS would give this show some advertising, I’m sure it would do well. They still hang on to the cheesey CSI:Miami, but but let this quality show hang out there? I like CBS, and they obviously are doing some things right. But, this is one show they’re missing out on. Easily one of the most intense and well acted shows on television. It’s worthy of primetime during the regular season, not just summer filler.
It seems that everytime we finally get interested in a show that is entertaining and holds our attention, the show disappears and we don’t even know what happened to it. CBS seems to be one of the worst networks at doing this, and without having a final epesode or anything. They will just end it in the middle of the storyline without any word of cancellation or any explanation. You just will not see the show anymore. It leaves you scratching your head saying, what happened? If you executives have any heart at all, please bring “Flashpoint” back and give… Read more »
My wife and I love Flashpoint. We did not start watching the show until 2009 and never missed an episode as we DVR’ed it to be sure not to miss it. We certainly hope that they bring it back and keep bringing it back.
So glad this is coming back – love the show!
Bring this show back, PLEASE!!!! We watch it all the time. Would hate to see it end so soon.
Bring Flashpoint back! It is entertaining and helps beat the summer heat.
Just found this in my in-box and thought I’d spread the love. Very exciting!!!

This is one of the BEST shows!!!!!!!!!!!! PLease bring it back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
For some reason my posts aren’t showing up. Hopefully third time’s the charm! I got the information from this article: http://ctvmedia.ca/ctv/releases/release.asp?id=12616&yyyy=2010 I also follow Mark Ellis (co-creator and writer) on twitter. He has been tweeting about the writing of season 4 and at last count, they were breaking the story for #409. The producers have a facebook page (Flashpoint Team One) and have been keeping fans up to date with the behind the scenes stuff. There was a blurb one the wall sometime in October, I think< about CTV ordering 18 eppies for season 4 and that filming would start… Read more »
@Lisa: Thanks. I’d seen that release in regards to other shows but couldn’t locate it or any report of the renewal when researching this article.

The back end of season 3 is airing here in Canada right now.
No confirmation about season 4 has been made, but CTV likely won’t release that information until spring when releasing their spring/fall tentative lineup. However rumour has it that CTV will pick it up again, as it’s one of their top 10 shows and a major component of Canadian content.
@Sarah: Thank you. That was my understanding.
CTV has already renewed Flashpoint for the fourth season, in fact, the writers are back to work and the season is set to start filming next month. It’ll be a shame is CBS doesn’t pick it up as a summer show, but I’m guessing they’re going to do the same thing Summer 2011 they did last summer- air the last part of one season and the first part of the new season. At least I hope they do. Otherwise I’m going to have to move to Canada!
@Lisa: Could you provide a link for the renewal? I haven’t been able to verify that CTV has ordered any more.
It is a very good show, i hope to see more of it.
I love that show to and I cant wait until it comes back on because it was a very good show to watch and when good shows come on then you get you interested they take it off or cancel the show in mid season
