After loads of promotion, TV Land has now debuted their original sitcom, Hot in Cleveland. Starring a quartet of sitcom veterans, is the TV show worth watching?
Hot in Cleveland follows three women from Los Angeles who’ve supposedly passed their prime. They’re on their way to Paris to check another item off their “bucket list” when their plane has to land in Cleveland. They quickly learn to love the Midwestern city and take up residence, living in a house that’s got a sassy caretaker. The series stars Valerie Bertinelli, Jane Leeves, Wendie Malick, and Betty White. Future guests include Wayne Knight, Shirley Knight, Huey Lewis, Hal Linden, Susan Lucci, Juliet Mills, Carl Reiner, and Amy Yasbeck.
Executive produced by Sean Hayes (Will & Grace), Todd Milliner, and Suzanne Martin, Hot in Cleveland debuted on June 16th. The first episode attracted 4.75 million viewers with a 1.9 rating in the 25-54 demographic.
While those numbers aren’t great for a regular network, they make Hot in Cleveland the most-watched and highest-rated broadcast in TV Land’s history.
The sitcom got mixed reviews so the big question is, “How many viewers will keep tuning in week after week?” The ratings for new shows typically drop off 10-20% in the second week but even if that many viewers don’t return, TV Land will still likely be very happy with the show’s ratings. There are nine episodes left in season one. Even if the ratings take a big nosedive, they’ll all surely air.
What do you think? Does Hot in Cleveland live up to your expectations? Will you keep watching or should the series be cancelled already?

Love the show…now that some many stations are canceling great shows, please don’t let this be one of them.
Definitely a keeper there is NOTHING GOOD on tv…finally something worth watching and having no attitude.
Please keep the show…. Its great to see women of my age having a great time. Betty White is priceless!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is totally a chick-com. I tried watching it but the humor is forced and predictable. Betty White is the bright spot although the show doesn’t do her justice. I would love to see her in something more clever. The show will be attractive to the 40’s and 50’s females but for a guy it is almost as much torture as sex and the city. It progressively gets harder for sit coms to make people laugh as time goes on because the humor has to be more clever each time. Seinfeld, Scrubs, Family Guy and The Office are very cleverly… Read more »
Please keep the show, I have only seen one episode, but I was throughly entertained. I found the women to be funny and the show held my attention. We need some good funny shows that are not reality type junk; we already have to much of that. Give the show a chance, everyone loves Betty White and I think she will help to draw in your audience. Just give it a chance.
The first episode was funny and has a great ensemble. I think it should be kept on. Although the other players are great, Betty White is hysterical!
Great show! My husband and I couldn’t stop laughing. KEEP IT!!!!!!!!!
give this show a chance, why dont they give shows a chance anymore? if a show has poor ratings then try it on another night let it find its audience…..
Without a doubt — KEEP IT!
The show is only funny because Betty White is funny. She’s like a much older, retired, Sue Ann Nivens and her raunchy, in your face attitude is spectacular. She clearly makes the show. Bertinelli is sweet, she always has been. Jane Leeves, I could watch her all day. But does Wendie Malick HAVE to continually be typecast into the same unapproachable yet surrounded by friends who are beneath her character? She can’t keep the viewer’s attention but thanks to Leeves, she doesn’t have to. I don’t watch it since an episode I watched a week ago. As much as I… Read more »
Great show……KEEEP IT AND BETTY WHITE YOU ARE THE BOMB!!!
Hot in Cleveland is not only a GOOD ensemble comedy – it is a GREAT ensemble comedy. The appeal is multi-generational, and reflects a picture of SO many families in today’s society. The acting (Wendie Malick, Valerie Bertinelli, Jane Leeves and Betty White) is PEERLESSLY good, comedically speaking. PLEASE, network executives, FOR ONCE, ACTUALLY LISTEN TO AND ACT ON the demonstrative and pertinent commentary coming to you from the viewership – KEEP Hot in Cleveland on the air and in production for a VERY long time to come – it’s HYSTERICALLY funny 😀
I love the show. Give it a chance. They are so cancel happy with everything today.
KEEP!! I agree with everyone else. The show aired one episode and IMO it was fantastic. The cast is very talented and this show should be more in the spolight.
This show is great. Reminds me a little of the Golden Girls, on of my oldtime favorite. Betty White is hysterical
Give it a chance to catch on.
