Sorry, Agent Carter fans. Netflix chief Ted Sarandos recently explained why the streaming service didn’t pick up Marvel’s Agent Carter for a third season, EW reports.
ABC cancelled the series after two seasons earlier this year. Fans expected the show to get picked up elsewhere, and star Hayley Atwell said she was committed to a third season if it happened.
When asked why Netflix passed on Agent Carter, Sarandos said:
We’re looking for truly original brands to own, and in that Marvel space we already have [original comic book shows] – so that was mostly why.
They also have some output deal complexities. So when you pick it up, being able to pick it up globally is difficult even after it’s canceled. Some of those output partners still had it on the air, so they would argue its covered by their output [deals]. Unfortunately, it was a business decision more than a creative one.”
What do you think? Are you a fan of Marvel’s Agent Carter? Would you still like to see a third season?
Another excellent show that has been abandoned.
Not only my friends and their children enjoyed this show, but even my elderly parents (mid eighties) loved this show.
It had such broas appeal – I have trouble understanding why so many good shows get abondoned and so many bad ones continue
Keep Peggy Carter. Love her. So much better than supergirl. Please bring her back. Plus we need to know who Peggy married in the end. Dont leave that undone
I wonder? If, Conviction doesn’t do well, in the ratings, will Channing Dungey cancel her sister show; Merrin Dungey.??.
WTH?! Is this for real?? To hell with him and all of his declining stock prices!
Ted, you just screwed yourself out of millions of new subscribers….HOPE YOU LOSE MORE OF YOUR SUBSCRIBERS because this fan WILL NEVER SUBSCRIBE TO NETFLIX!!
