Last week, CBS debuted their newest medical drama, Miami Medical. Their previous new medical show, Three Rivers, didn’t last very long. Will this new one fare any better?
Miami Medical follows the exciting lives of a group of talented surgeons who work at one of the best trauma centers in the country. The CBS drama features Lana Parrilla, Jeremy Northam, Omar Gooding, Mike Vogel, and Elisabeth Harnois.
In its first week on the air, Miami Medical attracted a 1.6 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 7.59 million viewers. That’s not a very good performance but, in the show’s defense, a lot of network programming was down that night.

Last night, for episode two, the other CBS shows saw their ratings rise but Miami Medical didn’t. The doctor show actually fell instead, to a 1.4 rating and 7.1 million viewers. It ranked in first place in overall viewers and tied for first in the demo. On the downside, in the same timeslot, Numb3rs averaged a 1.8 rating and 8.27 million viewers and it’s very likely to be cancelled.
In comparison to other programming, Miami Medical looks positive but the numbers for the whole night are so bad overall that you have to wonder if CBS can make enough money to justify running expensive dramas.
CBS likely won’t make a decision about the show’s future for awhile. They’ve ordered 13 episodes and, unless the ratings take a dramatic dive, they’ll probably let them all air. It doesn’t hurt that the program’s co-executive produced by Jerry Bruckheimer.
But, what do you think? Is Miami Medical worth your time each week? Cancel or keep it?

Keep it- LOVE it Love it love it!
I like the show, but it’s obvious that every operation will have a problem. I can sit there an say “3, 2, 1, patient crashes”. I like the characters, though. If they mix it up some, which I doubt they will, I say keep it going.
Please keep it on. It is excellent and there is too much junk being kept alive. I watched Three Rivers and miss that so please keep this
I was very into Numb3rs. I loved the math-heavy storylines. It was one of very few TV show that have shown that higher education is cool, and people who are smart can be very cool, and what they do is interesting. I don’t care if Miami Medical stays or goes, as long as Numb3rs stays.
LOL @ at the CSI producer crack! If you didn’t know Miami Medical was produced by the same bunch going in, you’d figure it out pretty quick by the ridiculously off colors. That’s a running joke in our house, where we continue to watch CSI:Miami just on the off chance that the show might somehow improve. It certainly can’t get any worse! I actually like Miami Medical enough. I liked Numbers, too, though. At least if it does not come back we aren’t all going to be left hanging wondering what happened in the storyline. That’s something to be thankful… Read more »
Miami Medical is definitely worth watching – and keeping. CBS needs to give it a chance.
They are cancelling Numb3rs for this crap!!! What happened? The CSI producers blackmailed CBS to produce another slick, shallow, thoughtless show?
My wife and I have enjoyed all of the episodes so far of Miami Medical!
I am not home at 10:00 on Friday nights but I have dvdr all of the episodes and have watched all of them.
Great cast!!
Please keep this show on air.
Miami Medicial…1 million times better than numbers sorry..numbers fans
numbers a family show..yea ok like kids care.
i think medical is great and i hope it stays you have ghost whisperer, medium and miami..thats a better fit than numbers at the end..talking to ghost, dreams of accident and murder and then saving lives and dealing with real life medical stuff.
how believable was solving things with numbers..not really at all
MIAMI MEDICALL ALL THE WAY
One of the worst medical dramas ive ever seen, right on par with greys anatomy. The one liners are awful and out of place. This show puts drama where its not supposed to be and too much where it is. ie Watch for how much time is wasted during a surgery TALKING. Something goes wrong and these doctors, who are supposively the best of the best, spend at least 2 minutes checking a pulse, looking at monitors then discussing what should be done next (meanwhile in reality the patient dies). Best of the Best? Please. Notice how it takes 5… Read more »
I say give it a chance. You get so quick to cancel after one or two episodes and it doesn’t have a chance to develop. Please CBS does very well and can afford a brief wait of a month–at least. I liked it better than any episodes of ‘Greys Anatomy’. Too much sex!!
Bring back numbers My whole family loves watching the show together and for the record Miami med sucks!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Boring!!! In my opinion Numb3rs is far better!
bring back numbers do not want another lame medical show. numbers was a good family show I enjoyed it very much thank you cbs
DO NOT CANCEL. Jeremy Northam is worth watching. He’s a very talented actor. Seen all his movies and loved every one. KEEP IT ON!!!!!!
