Becca Winstone’s chase is over. ABC has cancelled Missing, their Thursday night TV series, after one season and 10 episodes.
Starring Ashley Judd, Missing follows a former CIA Agent turned single mom as she searches for her missing son in Europe. The action show also stars Adriano Giannini, Nick Eversman, Cliff Curtis, Tereza Voriskova, and Sean Bean.
Missing got off to a disappointing start on March 15th, registering a 2.1 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 10.60 million viewers. It was in third place for the demo and second place in total viewership.
In week two, the numbers took a significant drop, to a 1.6 rating with 8.81 million. Over the next several weeks, Missing fell lower and lower. The most recent episode hit a new low with a 1.1 demo rating and 6.37 million total viewers.

Overall, Missing’s been averaging a 1.5 rating with 7.70 million viewers. If they had more episodes in the season, those averages would surely keep sinking lower.
On our ABC Ratings Report Card, which measures the relative demo success of TV shows on the network, Missing has a “D-” for a grade. Of the 22 scripted shows on the network this season, Missing ranks 21st — just above the already-cancelled Charlie’s Angels remake.
With low ratings and steep declines, it’s no wonder that ABC decided not to renew Missing for a second season.
The series finale airs next Thursday and will hopefully include enough closure to satisfy the viewers that stuck with it.
What do you think? Are you sorry to hear that Missing has been cancelled? Why do you think the show didn’t succeed? How long should have the show realistically lasted — one season, two, three or more?

i am so disappointed that abc did not keep this show on. i have been waiting to see the next season. it was a bad decision on their part. my family and friends has been waiting for new episodes too. there is not many good shows on anymore. and then to keep everyone hanging with no way to find out what might have happened. i do not know why theykeep the bad shows on and take the good ones off. does not make sense. please bring back missing and all the terrific actors.
this ticks me off so much they arent continuing this show,im a 50 yr old female and thought this was the best show on tv in such a long time, wow i cant believe it wont be back on
please do not cancel this series ….. it has and amazing story, honestly i just heard of this last week and it got be so addicted that i spent a day watching all the episodes. This is a very very good product and i believe that if you work on promoting it you’ll have a great success
VERY BIG MISTAKE…. THIS SHOW WAS EXCELLENT AND KEPT YOU GUESSING…. CANNOT BELIEVE IT. WITH ALL THE OTHER CRAP ON TV….
Ooo its to bad i loved this one!
Please bring a season two!!
With a end like this one you own it the people who where watching!!
I couldn’t agree more.
I’ve spend the last 3 days watching this serie online and i’m hooked.
The family is back together and they can start a new life and instead of ending it there (i’ve bet they knew that season 2 was canceled even back then) they make Becca dissappear with no hope of how, when, where or whatever..
It’s not fair!!
Please air season 2 and give it a happy ending!
OMG!! I really enjoyed this show and was looking forward to a season two. Oh well, guess I will just keep watching Nashville and Once.
It sucks that there wont be a second season especially after seeing how season 1 ended, but i cant say im surprised. The action is good with a nice storyline but the whole damn season was to predictable for me. After a few episodes i figured out her husband was still alive even before you saw him, i also thought Violet was crooked and a few episodes later it turns out she is. the same thing for Newman, i figured he was at the top of the chain and next thing you know he is… Too bad it got cancelled… Read more »
What a pity! Really loved the show and was looking forward to see a new season 🙁
From Sweden
Here in HOLLAND we like to see a second season too!
I loved it!
Am so disappointed by ABC’s decision to decline the renewal of season 2. Now am left hanging! What will happen after Becca Winstone goes missing? WE WANT THAT DETECTIVE SERIES BACK!!!!
I cannot believe ABC’S decision! This was a very good detective series and I have been on the look out only to get disappointed. where are you going to get us another good detective series like this one? You guys are killing the industry, am so disappointed.
I cannot believe this show was cancelled!!! I am outraged and how the show ended and I was so excited for a second season. I just read it had low ratings. Let me tell you why. I never once saw a commercial for it. It was not advertised well enough. The show was such a beautiful story and I truly believe it had more to give. I was completely hooked but then devestated when I read no season two. I am 10000000% sure it wouldve had better ratings IF it had been advertised more!! I happened to stumble across it… Read more »
Was really sorry to hear that “Missing” was cancelled! My daughter and I had a date for each episode. It, for us, replaced “24,” which was one of our favorites! “Missing” should return! It was a great thriller, like a “Bourne” series! Please reconsider!
This sucks……. they should never have left it hanging…… Please bring it back
I loved the show missing!! Wished it was still airing , I haven’t watched a tv show since alias. Reminded me of that.
Great show – very disappointed it has been cancelled – I think the timing of when this show hit in off season hurt it – also it was not given enough advertisement ahead of time – most people I know had not even heard of it!
