Becca Winstone’s chase is over. ABC has cancelled Missing, their Thursday night TV series, after one season and 10 episodes.
Starring Ashley Judd, Missing follows a former CIA Agent turned single mom as she searches for her missing son in Europe. The action show also stars Adriano Giannini, Nick Eversman, Cliff Curtis, Tereza Voriskova, and Sean Bean.
Missing got off to a disappointing start on March 15th, registering a 2.1 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 10.60 million viewers. It was in third place for the demo and second place in total viewership.
In week two, the numbers took a significant drop, to a 1.6 rating with 8.81 million. Over the next several weeks, Missing fell lower and lower. The most recent episode hit a new low with a 1.1 demo rating and 6.37 million total viewers.

Overall, Missing’s been averaging a 1.5 rating with 7.70 million viewers. If they had more episodes in the season, those averages would surely keep sinking lower.
On our ABC Ratings Report Card, which measures the relative demo success of TV shows on the network, Missing has a “D-” for a grade. Of the 22 scripted shows on the network this season, Missing ranks 21st — just above the already-cancelled Charlie’s Angels remake.
With low ratings and steep declines, it’s no wonder that ABC decided not to renew Missing for a second season.
The series finale airs next Thursday and will hopefully include enough closure to satisfy the viewers that stuck with it.
What do you think? Are you sorry to hear that Missing has been cancelled? Why do you think the show didn’t succeed? How long should have the show realistically lasted — one season, two, three or more?

What a shame to cancel a series such as this. With well developed characters a good story line and production quality. You should bring it back. But I doubt you will, it will be replaced with another so called “Reality” piece of non sense with obnoxious crude people. I’ll save you the trouble : Here is a concept for a show for you: Dancing With Survivors!!!! Obnoxious people from an Island Ballroom Dancing, All I can say is:
THANK GOD FOR BOOKS!!!!!!!!!!
This show allowed people to see places in Europe that most of us will never be able to visit. Please bring it back, it is educational as well as entertaining.
Sorry to see it cancelled. Good show Ashley is terrific and scenery is great.
Missing was great!!!!!! Bring it back please!!!!!!!
My husband an I are so upset that they cancelled this show. It was such a good story line. It’s really too bad, it was like watching a mini-movie every week with awesome actors. I hope they re-consider. Maybe they had more viewers than they thought, and people were recording it…especially if the viewers have children – bedtime for them, time for parents to watch their shows.
I loved the show Missing. It was the only network show that I this season. watched this season. Please bring it back so we find out what is going to happen to Becca.
Missing has been cancelled! That sucks – it was a really enjoyable show – Great decision ABS
Finally, an entertaining, exciting show for adults that is being canceled for another juvenile comedy or perhaps, even worse, another stupid reality show. Who on earth is in charge of programming at ABC? “Missing” was one of the best new shows on television. Please reconsider the decision to cancel it!
please bring it back!!!!!!!
Fantastic show!! I hope it gets picked up…please!! One of the few shows that I have actually loved!
FINALLY there was a decent show like Missing on prime time that got your attention and let you travel through Europe without leaving your couch!!! ANd then these idiots go and cancel it…and for what???? To make room for more crappy reality TV that has no basis in the real lives of real people and is pure garbage TV!!! Ashley Judd was awesome and so were ALL the other characters…the show was a stepchild to one of the other great shows on TV…24!!! They should have kept Missing on for at least one more season!!! PLEASE BRING IT BACK!! THERE… Read more »
Do not cancel Missing! What are you thinking? Ratings may have been bad, but it was up against the results show of American Idol!!!! What would you expect? Everyone I know (including myself) record this show and watch it later! When I see what you’ve decided to keep…what junk! Keep Missing on your schedule!!!!!
It’s a great show, but unfortunatley it’s on the same time as the results show for American Idol. ABC should have known better. What a shame!
I can’t believe they cancelled this show !! It truly was one of the best shows on TV right now. The scenery was fabulous and so was the acting ! Bring it back, please !!!
This show had me from the first show
Why am I shocked? Another program of substance, that is well-written and has great acting, is cancelled. It appears from the ratings that the audiences of America prefer reality shows or even fluff sit-coms. It’s sad.
