Becca Winstone’s chase is over. ABC has cancelled Missing, their Thursday night TV series, after one season and 10 episodes.
Starring Ashley Judd, Missing follows a former CIA Agent turned single mom as she searches for her missing son in Europe. The action show also stars Adriano Giannini, Nick Eversman, Cliff Curtis, Tereza Voriskova, and Sean Bean.
Missing got off to a disappointing start on March 15th, registering a 2.1 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 10.60 million viewers. It was in third place for the demo and second place in total viewership.
In week two, the numbers took a significant drop, to a 1.6 rating with 8.81 million. Over the next several weeks, Missing fell lower and lower. The most recent episode hit a new low with a 1.1 demo rating and 6.37 million total viewers.

Overall, Missing’s been averaging a 1.5 rating with 7.70 million viewers. If they had more episodes in the season, those averages would surely keep sinking lower.
On our ABC Ratings Report Card, which measures the relative demo success of TV shows on the network, Missing has a “D-” for a grade. Of the 22 scripted shows on the network this season, Missing ranks 21st — just above the already-cancelled Charlie’s Angels remake.
With low ratings and steep declines, it’s no wonder that ABC decided not to renew Missing for a second season.
The series finale airs next Thursday and will hopefully include enough closure to satisfy the viewers that stuck with it.
What do you think? Are you sorry to hear that Missing has been cancelled? Why do you think the show didn’t succeed? How long should have the show realistically lasted — one season, two, three or more?

great show great character development wrong time slot wonderful actors . great writing poor promotion of show
This is crazy! This was a great show with quality actors! ABC is crazy for canceling this show!
The last one marked Anonymous was what I wrote, they really should consider keeping it on because I do like how Ashley kicks ass and she should continue to do so but by helping other families.
The first couple shows were good but it started to stupid, how long could she look for her son, ok maybe a few mor months. Every week she was sounding like her character in Double Jepardy. ( where’s my son, give me back my son) it would have been better if she found her son and her and her son could have helped other families look for their kids or anyone for them. They should leave it on and change the name to: Missing Loved Ones or Found Loved Ones.
I loved this show . The actors were great and so was the story line. This was one of the best shows on tv. I am so disappointed. This show needs to be brought back if nor by this station then another!
I too loved the show “Missing”!! Waited for Thursdays to tune in. If I did miss it on Thursdays, rarely, I’d catch the latest episode on HULU online. Ashley Judd is a wonderful actress and very talented. The story line of “Missing” was well played out, and yes, again, on the edge of your seat action packed entertainment. ABC was wrong for cancelling this show. I hope another network picks it up and runs with it. Enough of the reality shows, music/dance competition shows, grammy, emmy, oscar, peoples choice, music video award show,Big Brother (ICK), The batchelor/batchelorette (double ICK). meh!… Read more »
I can understand no finishing the show for a full season. The on location shoots and I paid actors has to be expensive. But now days with TiVo and DVRs I don’t think the ratings are quite accurate. That being said don’t leave us hanging. At least bring the show back as a mini series to finish the story line. Let us know how it ends. I think you will get a strong audience for a mini series. People love the show and you would get plenty of viewers, especially if the show was wrapped up in timely manner. Or… Read more »
I am truly pissed that this show has been canceled, just last week i was talking to my coworkers about the show. They all loved it.
Who can i email so they can give it a second season at least. I know from experience that some people don’t give a show a chance until someone they know recomends its. You know ( word of mouth)……
Please reconcider,
Thanks Colette

ok. i am so mad about ABC Cancelling this show. This show was really good had a great story line. And if i were ashley judd id be pretty mad mostly because im reading that this show begged her to come and play on this show. Ive always stuck to CBS and TNT for my shows that i watch and when i heard about this show i was interested before it even aired for the first time. Granted that it is hard to follow if you dont keep up but most people i know have a recording system. Record it… Read more »
Seems like ABC likes to cancel shows that are geared to an adult audience. I am so sick of talk shows, reality shows and comedys that lack humor. “Missing” was well written and the acting was great – it was almost like watching a movie. One of the shows that I really looked forward to. Still mad at ABC about cancelling 2 soap operas and replacing with talk shows. ABC you do know that their are other broadcasting companies out there beside you!!!
What on earth were you thinking to cancel this show – it’s great – great cast – great plot. Bring it back!
I don’t understand who the hell makes these decisions, but the worst thing on T V is those stupid reality shows (you know the ones like storage wars) that are so phoney and uses actors, not good ones, mind you!, the best show on T V was Missing, exciting , on the edge of your seat, Excellent acting and plot lines. Ashley Judd is excellent in any role, especially this one. You lousy critics go back to the trailer park and open a beer and watch something useless like the reruns of the 1990’s sitcoms!,,
Enjoyed the show too bad it has been cancelled. You need to cancel some of the brain dead shows instead of the good ones.
