Becca Winstone’s chase is over. ABC has cancelled Missing, their Thursday night TV series, after one season and 10 episodes.
Starring Ashley Judd, Missing follows a former CIA Agent turned single mom as she searches for her missing son in Europe. The action show also stars Adriano Giannini, Nick Eversman, Cliff Curtis, Tereza Voriskova, and Sean Bean.
Missing got off to a disappointing start on March 15th, registering a 2.1 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 10.60 million viewers. It was in third place for the demo and second place in total viewership.
In week two, the numbers took a significant drop, to a 1.6 rating with 8.81 million. Over the next several weeks, Missing fell lower and lower. The most recent episode hit a new low with a 1.1 demo rating and 6.37 million total viewers.

Overall, Missing’s been averaging a 1.5 rating with 7.70 million viewers. If they had more episodes in the season, those averages would surely keep sinking lower.
On our ABC Ratings Report Card, which measures the relative demo success of TV shows on the network, Missing has a “D-” for a grade. Of the 22 scripted shows on the network this season, Missing ranks 21st — just above the already-cancelled Charlie’s Angels remake.
With low ratings and steep declines, it’s no wonder that ABC decided not to renew Missing for a second season.
The series finale airs next Thursday and will hopefully include enough closure to satisfy the viewers that stuck with it.
What do you think? Are you sorry to hear that Missing has been cancelled? Why do you think the show didn’t succeed? How long should have the show realistically lasted — one season, two, three or more?

I am so disappointed that the show is canceled! I love the show and looked forward to watching it every week! Not sure why they canecled it after only a short time on the air! Not really giving it a chance. It came on late at night and I would stay up to watch! Very disappointing!!!!
Loved Missing it was the only ABC show I watch
except the occasional Pan Am. Most of the ABC line up is junk. They finally get a good show and cancel it, but garbage ( like the batchelor) comes back season after season. Get a clue ABC and bring Missing back.
I must have fouled up because I filled this out once BUT will do it again because I CANNOT BELIEVE THAT “MISSING” HAS BEEN CANCELED!! ABC gets a really good show that appeals to families and cancels it!!! Why don’t you cancel those stupid reality shows – they are NOT FOR REAL! Anytime you put a man, woman, or child in front of a camera – they are going to “turn on”. It is a normal reaction to “act” in front of a camera. I have absolutely not use for a “Reality” show. Ashly Judd had a really great show… Read more »
I cannot believe that “Missing” has been discontinued!!!! Someone must have screwed up on the ratings!. It was one of my husband and my FAVORITE shows – Right up there with “Blue Bloods” ,” CSI Las Vegas” and ” CSI New York”. I don’t believe you gave that show a chance! Ashley Judd was very good in “Missing”. In addition, it was a show that could be watched by a family, children, and us “old folks” (who don’tlike a lot of foul language, sex, or naked men and women running around).
Missing was one of the best shows on TV. The acting was so great, nothing phony or fake. I’m so sorry it was cancelled.
I can’t believe the show was cancelled. I hope ABC changes their mind and renews the contract. Every week i looked forward to watching the new episode. I always got me in suspense and wanting to see more. Becca never stops searching for her missing son no matter what situation she encauntered. Loved the show, please brung it back!
The main problem with “Missing” was the fact that it played opposite reality show favorites. I watched most of the episodes “On Demand”, which I’m sure does not register with anybody.
I’m hoping that another network will pick it up and run with it. Get it away from ABC, and it might flourish.
This was one of the best shows I had seen in years. The suspense each week was amazing and unpredictable. I thought finally, a quality show on TV! It’s very disappointing to learn it has been cancelled.
I’m not one to get addicted to a show, but I loved this show! It ended with some closure, but it also ended with the impression there would be a second season with Becca’s disappearance. So disappointing!!! She was such a great ass kicker and the story line was great. Those that didn’ t watch it were “missing” out.
I am so disappointed that you have cancelled this great show. My daughter and I looked forward to watching this every week. To leave it hanging the way you did was a crime. I could understand but certainly only if you were renewing. What a shame when something finally is a good show you cancel it and keep shows like the Bachelorette or Bachelor or various other “reality” shows.
I loved the show- just not the time slot. Here in Az. it was on @ 7p.m.-Too early, would have been better another time or day. I’ll miss it!
I’m so disappointed!!! I don’t watch Tv much but this show was Awesome! It truly is the numbing of this country when u have thought provoking, suspense, well done, true acting talent is cancelled…. We are screwed!!!! Total shame when ” the b in apt 23 survives!!! GOD Must have washed his hands!, Ashley Judd I’m so sorry !!
very disappointed this show was canceled. the photography, writing, and characters, were very good. i will miss this show – shame on ABC for not trying harder to make this show a success.
I am obsessed with this show and I am VERY SAD that it was canceled because you shouldn’t cancel on people not viewing this show you should keep going and be happy that millions of people watch it and love it like me! And i guarantee that if you keep goin with more seasons you will get more viewers!!! I love this show and I am very disappointed that it will not go further but it should and thank u!:)
We just finished watching the finale and thought it was great! I’m so disappointed that it’s not being renewed. I think that going into summer people don’t want a show that they have to think too hard about. You can’t take your eyes off the screen or you chance missing something. Thank goodness for DVR as we rewound at times to catch what had just happened! It’s too bad that so many people veg their brains on reality shows instead of making their brain work by figuring the story out, like in Missing. We need more writers to do shows… Read more »
