Becca Winstone’s chase is over. ABC has cancelled Missing, their Thursday night TV series, after one season and 10 episodes.
Starring Ashley Judd, Missing follows a former CIA Agent turned single mom as she searches for her missing son in Europe. The action show also stars Adriano Giannini, Nick Eversman, Cliff Curtis, Tereza Voriskova, and Sean Bean.
Missing got off to a disappointing start on March 15th, registering a 2.1 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 10.60 million viewers. It was in third place for the demo and second place in total viewership.
In week two, the numbers took a significant drop, to a 1.6 rating with 8.81 million. Over the next several weeks, Missing fell lower and lower. The most recent episode hit a new low with a 1.1 demo rating and 6.37 million total viewers.

Overall, Missing’s been averaging a 1.5 rating with 7.70 million viewers. If they had more episodes in the season, those averages would surely keep sinking lower.
On our ABC Ratings Report Card, which measures the relative demo success of TV shows on the network, Missing has a “D-” for a grade. Of the 22 scripted shows on the network this season, Missing ranks 21st — just above the already-cancelled Charlie’s Angels remake.
With low ratings and steep declines, it’s no wonder that ABC decided not to renew Missing for a second season.
The series finale airs next Thursday and will hopefully include enough closure to satisfy the viewers that stuck with it.
What do you think? Are you sorry to hear that Missing has been cancelled? Why do you think the show didn’t succeed? How long should have the show realistically lasted — one season, two, three or more?

Family favorite program and you dare take if off the air. What a loss
I never liked it. Since the exagerated plastic surgery effects on Asheley Judd’s face – those round and puffed chicks which the actress never had and avoided my immidiate recognition of her – to her tricks when fighting that no middle aged woman would ever had, made this series boring, uninteresting. The screenplay is poor and allows us, telespectators, to guess the next steps quite easily… Hope something better is coming!
Sorry to see the show go. It seemed to have real potential the plot kept you on the edge. I looked forward to future shows. I am not surprise based on the usual tripe the ABC selects to air. Back to CBS
ABC you have lost your Damn mind by not brining this GREAT SHOW BACK!!!
Bring MISSING BACK!!!!!!!!
What a complete disappointment. Why do all the shows that have good plots have to be cancelled. Why not cancel MOST of the the reality television. Funny how the votes show 52% want four or more seasons and we only get one. I am sick to death of the crap that is shown on tv. It seems like every time something worth watching comes on it is cancelled after the first season. I am just SICKENED by this news!!!
No,no,no great show bring it back.
You can’t be serious. I LOVED Missing and told everyone about it. It was a fabulous show and I do not watch TV shows! Have been waiting all these months, never heard a thing. Just searched today and can’t believe there will not be a 2nd season. Really strange. It was like watching a terrific movie every week. VERY, VERY DISAPPOINTED with nothing to look forward to.
Dumb move to cancel.
GREAT SHOW
Substance. Finally.
Dammit.
Stupid ass network execs. Lest we forget….MASH, AND CHEERS….were polled lower….and LOOK WHAT THEY DID.
NOOOOO!!! Bring it back. How does Becca survive the explosion?! I looked forward every week for that show!
Very disappointing …. VERY !!! We watched that show as a family and are very sad its no longer around ….. AHUGE DISAPPOINTMENT!!!
What a dissapointment. It was a great series. Some of the stuff that is on the new season is really bad! But it back on people.
very upset that missing was canceled it was one of the best shows on tv. i was hooked and i was looking forwarded to the next season, well i guess revenge is going to be the only show on your network that i will watch, try not to cancel it.
Unbelieveable! I’ve been waiting and waiting for the new season. Couldn’t figure out why I hadn’t heard when it would be soooo…went to ABC and shock of all shocks(I say loosely). Every time I find a show that I enjoy and look forward to, ABC cancels it. CAN NOT figure out what they consider a good show. Let’s just have all reality shows (that’s sarcastic) and call it ABC TV. Most disappointing network around. 🙁
I am very disappointed with ABC cancelling Missing! My ENTIRE FAMILY was hooked on this show…….! that was our show to watch as a family everyone was intrigued and on the edge of their seats….. WHAT A HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT!
My husband and I loved the show and was so looking forward to the new season. I am very disappointed! “Missing” was an amazing show and I can’t believe ABC did this!
