The saga of NBC’s medical disaster series continues.
Trauma revolves around a group of brave first responder paramedics in San Francisco. The high-action series is populated by an ensemble cast that includes Derek Luke, Cliff Curtis, Anastasia Griffith, Kevin Rankin, Aimee Garcia, Billy Lush, Jamey Sheridan, and Taylor Kinney.
Back in October, NBC indicated they weren’t ordering any additional episodes of Trauma beyond the initial 13 episode order, effectively cancelling the series. Then, in the wake of the failure of The Jay Leno Show, they ordered seven more episodes to fill primetime space.
When Trauma returned to the NBC schedule after a three month hiatus, the ratings were even worse than they were back in November. If the execs weren’t happy with the ratings before, they were very likely regretting their decision to order additional installments.
According to the Futon Critic, NBC has now cut their additional episode order from seven to five installments. That brings the season total to 18 episodes.
The last episode of the season, and almost certainly the series, will air on April 26th. No word yet if the producers adapted episode 18 so that it could serve as a series finale or if viewers will be left hanging.
What do you think? Are you sorry that Trauma’s episode order has been cut? Are you holding onto hope that it will be back for season two?

Love the show hate to see it go…
My son recently became an EMT. He along with my twelve-year old daughter, we all looked forward to our Monday evening dose of Trauma. This was the only school night of the week that my daughter was allowed to stay up beyond 9:00p.m. We were so disappointed the first time we realized it had gotten taken off the air and were so excited when we stumbled across it having been put back on. This was real life scenarios that all of us in one form or another could relate. It sure beat lots of the wasted air time shows starting… Read more »
I rushed home on Monday nights to watch Trauma…it was a good show!! Why do all the good shows keep getting cancelled?? What are you doing NBC??
My husband and I love this show! I am totally bummed it might be gone forever. We looked forward to watching it every Monday night. We had no idea the ratings were so bad. Please bring it back!
Bring back Trauma. There is nothing to watch on Monday nights and I am so sick of reality TV. I love this drama. It is insightful and all around good acting. Haven’t had that on TV in a while. We want Trauma!!!!!!
NBC finally had a show worth watching. If the April 29th, 2010 episode is the last, then I will not be watching NBC anymore because their list of shows is crappy. I loved the action and story lines of “Trauma”. I do not understand when good shows are on NBC, they want to cancel. Oh I do. The Jay Leno hickup is just one. Point made!!! NBC needs knew management that really know what people want to watch.
Please bring back show, I am totally hooked
Great show – Nice & different than the other 30 “lAW” shows out there. Refreshing to say the least !!! If you are a Boob Tube watcher it has gotten disgusting to see how each channel has comprimised “difference” in order to get reviews on similar shows on other networks that are doing good. Give us a – MENUE– & we will watch all the chann els out there & all will be happy in Neverland!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I’m hooked and want more Trauma! Please don’t cancel for good!
Are you serious NBC? It HAD to be a timeslot issue because Tauma is the most exciting, best story plot NBC has had in a long time.Sorry ts whats real…….and so was loooking forward to TRAUMAAAAAAAAAAAAAAa!!!!!!!!!!
Are they crazy. Trama is the best thing happening…….and its get cancelled? I agree that was just enough to get viewers total attention then bam!!!!!!!!!!!!!! its gone.not cool nbc
I have watched many “medical” shows over numerous years and Trauma is one of the best. I was most disappointed when the series was originally cancelled but thrilled when it returned. Now I am again disappointed and wonder what it takes for television management to realize a hit when they have it. Give it some more time and it will turn into a big hit. If ratings were poor, then maybe the time slot was poor. Try moving it to another day. I have seen programs with a lot less potential be given more chances than this one has been… Read more »
we are so disappointed about trauma being gone, because we love what they did with the characters, Please bring it BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!the best show on tv since CSI
As an active EMT I absolutly love this show and hope and pray it comes back. As someone else said, each episode was getting better and better, although I loved it from the first episode.
I LOVE this show. Being in the career myself, it’s about time that EMT’s get their due. Lack of advertising and a poor time slot is the issue here. Give it some ad time and a better time slot and it will take off.
