The axe keeps flying over at TNT. The cable channel already cancelled Dallas and Franklin & Bash and now, they’ve cancelled Perception as well. There won’t be a fourth season.
Perception follows Doctor Daniel Pierce (Eric McCormack), a talented and schizophrenic neuropsychiatrist, as he assists his former student, FBI Special Agent Kate Moretti (Rachael Leigh Cook), solve complex cases. Other castmembers include Kelly Rowan, Arjay Smith, LeVar Burton, and Scott Wolf.
The show is currently in its third season. Ten of the season’s 15 episodes have aired so far and have averaged 2.78 million viewers with a 0.6 rating in the 18-49 demographic. That’s down about 10% when compared to season two.
While Perception certainly isn’t TNT’s biggest series, it’s been a respectable performer. It seems that the cancellation is at least in part due to the cable channel’s desire to move towards airing edgier series.
It’s worth noting that Legends, a show sited as being more “edgy”, drew only 1.53 million viewers and has yet to be cancelled or renewed.
The final five episodes of Perception will being airing on February 17, 2015. It’s unclear if they will give viewers any kind closure to the series.
ABC Studios produces Perception so there’s a chance that they might try to find another home for the series. There will be 39 episodes at the end of season three — a far cry from the typical 88 episode minimum needed for a syndication package.
What do you think? Do you like the Perception TV show? Do you think it should have been cancelled, or renewed for a fourth season? Would you watch it on another channel?
Perception’s cancellation is sad news indeed. This is a well written, well acted drama that is intelligent entertainment. I hope the TNT network rethinks it’s position on this cancellation. We need more TV shows that make us think and less drivel. Thanks
Perception is an intelligent, witty television show with excellent casting and writing. It is one (of very few) programs I watch on a regular basis. I sincerely hope another network picks it up.
I love the “Perception” series. They have excellent story line with no unnecessary sex and violence or supernatural happenings.
I like this TV show. I am desapointed that the show is cancelled. Hope It will be back on a next channel if it is possible.
Thank you.
Think Perception is a great show & SHOULD NOT be cancelled ! ! !
Well written & gives good information to people about the brain & behavior in interesting ways.
I love Perception. I cannot begin to understand why it was cancelled. Has TNT gone mad? Yes, I WOULD watch it on another channel. I hope that happens. We need more Perception!
Love perception! Hopefully another channel picks up this great show
This sucks! Perception was a great shows with great actors! You suck TNT!
I have loved this series since it first started, although only caught it halfway into the first
season. I love the characters & actors on the show. I think it should be given a chance
on another network and I would definitely watch it!
‘Perception’ is, or rather was, an intelligent show with three dimensional characters and
well written plots. The heavy drama and the humour were nicely blended and the loyalty
between the characters was very uplifting to see. Having the scenes move from fresh-faced students in a classroom to dark and gritty crime sites gave interesting variety to each episode. I will miss it and I hope another network recognizes it’s worth and picks it up.
The cancellation seems a very poor decision.
why do tv stations cancel shows that are interesting without being gory. I have enjoyed this show from the beginning and feel that cancelling this show has, once again, limited my viewing options. Hopefully another network will continue this series, even though I have seen that some of the actors have moved on.

Hopefully another network will continue this series, even though I have seen that some of the actors have moved on. AMC did the same stupid thing with Longmire. Because the shows do draw viewers who are older seems to be the reason the shows are cancelled. Doesn’t make sense since older viewers have more money to spend on the items viewed in the commercials.
tnt – sofa king stupid
legend has half- HLF the viewership and yet its not on the chopping block
again- tnt – sofa king stupid
Yet another idiotic decision by a television network! They keep cancelling good, intelligent television, and keep renewing our modern equivalent of the Roman Colosseum watching people do stupid things! A plea to some other network: please pick this show up before the actors all have other contracts they can’t get out of! Please, please, please!!!
This is an awful decision. This show is amazing and I am so sorry to see it go. Sure hope another network picks it up.
