The peacock network recently premiered a new mystery series for the summer called Persons Unknown. Will the series last? Will viewers get answers to their questions or be left hanging?
Persons Unknown revolves around a group of strangers who wake up in a strange hotel and find that they’re in a ghost town and unable to leave. They see security cameras observing them and their unknown captors create mistrust among the group by offering freedom if they hurt the others. The cast includes Chadwick Boseman, Lee Purcell, Jason Wiles, Andy Greenfield, Daisy Betts, Tina Holmes, Alan Ruck, Kate Lang Johnson, Sean O’Bryan, and Gerald Kyd.
The NBC mystery series debuted on June 7th to very disappointing ratings. The premiere attracted a poor 1.4 rating in the 18-49 demographic and just 4.38 million viewers. That represents a distant third place for the timeslot and is an even worse performance than last year’s I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!.
In week two, the numbers dropped to a 1.2 rating and 3.52 total viewers. Episode three’s ratings dropped even further to a 1.0 in the demo and only 2.87 million viewers. How much lower can the numbers go?
The network is promoting Persons Unknown as a mini-series and say that all viewer questions will be answered by the end of the 13th episode. There have been talks that if the show is successful, it could return for a second season (like CBS’ Harper’s Island). The series was created with international buyers in mind so if it’s successful in other countries, year two could be forthcoming (ala The Listener). However, with ratings like these, NBC wouldn’t likely have an interest in buying it.
Actually, the peacock network could pull the show off the air before all of the current episodes have even aired. NBC has moved it up to 8pm for the next couple weeks, trying to attract a few more viewers. Hopefully, the network will let all 13 episodes air and allow faithful viewers to see the story reach its conclusion. At this point, a move to Saturday nights or forcing people to watch episodes online wouldn’t come as a surprise.

boy that sucked!! no answers….pitiful!! but I loved Drive too and that was cancelled before it ended right.
at times i thought the acting was bad – but the storyline kept you intrigued just enough to keep watching…i am so very disappointed in the series finale…if you were going to do a mini-series and have “all the answers to your questions” then why leave it hanging like that at the end? as nerdy as it seems, for all the people who enjoyed watching the show and followed along and connected with the characters within – you leave us hanging…bad idea. i’ll still buy the season when it comes out on dvd but from here on out i guess… Read more »
THIS SHOW NEEDS 2 CONTINUE…I LOVE IT AS SO MANY OTHERS DO…I ALSO LOVED HAPPY TOWN…IT’S TORTURE AND I WILL BE MORE LIKELY 2 NEVER WATCH NBC AGAIN IF THEY KEEP GETTING PPL. MY HUSBAND AND I LOVE THE SHOW! We have watched it EVERY week on HULU! We like many other households are way to busy to watch tv on the actual dates and times shows air, so we catch up on the weekends by watching online. It would be a shame to cancel a show with such a great cast & interesting storyline. I personally NEVER saw advertisements for the show & just stumbled upon it online. Definitely want to see more!!! That ending was intense and all I could think about was if there was going to be another season.
This was a great, well done show. I truly looked foward to it each week. It would be a shame to cancel it. My family will be crushed if season 2, Level 2 isn’t shown. You should have advertised it more..
It is very disappointing that all our questions were not answered. You can show NBC your dissatisfaction by not watching their programming or purchasing their advertisers products.
I like this show. I was a little dissappointed about the end but if there is going to be a second season I would watch it. Beacuse the end just left me with more questions. I hope they bring it back.
SO disappointing… it was starting to get a bit lame, but i figured i’d finish it since i had watched it all up until the end… but WOW.
Their promo’s kept saying “All will be revealed” What a let down.. they didn’t answer anything!!!!!!

I read somewhere that they don’t count the internet views? Is that true? I’ve been watching so many shows online and I hate the thought that because of my busy schedule a great show is going to be canceled. That would make me so mad.
It started out good then got a little silly,but i liked all the actors.i watched it all just to see what and why,but no answers. Very dissapointing.
