Game of Thrones continues its reign. According to TorrentFreak, the popular HBO series was the most-pirated TV show in 2016.
This is the fifth year in a row the fantasy drama has topped the most-pirated chart. AMC’s The Walking Dead placed second and HBO’s new series Westworld took the third spot.
TorrentFreak reports Game of Thrones hit a high right after its season six finale aired, with around 350,000 people sharing the episode online. The other most-pirated shows for 2016 include The Flash, Arrow, The Big Bang Theory, Vikings, Lucifer, Suits, and The Grand Tour — Amazon’s answer to Top Gear.
Season seven of Game of Thrones is slated to debut next summer.
What do you think? Are you a fan of Game of Thrones? Are you surprised it’s the most-pirated TV show?
Not surprised at all. HBO waits too long to release their shows on DVD so people that do not have HBO can’t buy/rent. It’s not available on Netflix not sure if it’s available on Amazon or iTunes didn’t check. Westworld will move up to second. I also expect the same thing to happen with the new Star Trek show, since it will be available only if you pay to watch what is a free channel.
