FOX has ordered a procedural drama series pilot, Recon, from The Vampire Diaries‘ co-creators and EPs, Kevin Williamson and Julie Plec, with Caroline Dries, who took over Vampire Diaries show-running duties from Plec, a while back.
Dries will write Recon and will executive produce, with Williamson and Plec. Whether or not the long-in-the-tooth Vampire Diaries will be cancelled after seven seasons, or renewed for an eighth, is TBD. Regardless of that show’s fate, these three will be busy enough to keep out of that pesky sunlight.
Here is more on Recon, from The Hollywood Reporter:
Recon, from Warner Bros. Television — where Williamson and Plec are based — centers on a rookie FBI agent who embeds herself in a suspected terrorist family. Dries will pen the script and exec produce alongside Plec and Williamson. The drama hails from Williamson’s Outerbanks Entertainment banner. It marks a reunion for The Vampire Diaries team — Plec originally stared [sic] her career as Williamson’s head of development.
Should Recon go to series, it would join Plec’s Vampire Diaries and spin-off The Originals as well as Containment, should The CW renew the latter trio.
Per TVInsider, “…Kevin Williamson and Julie Plec will be non-writing executive producers on this project.”
What do you think? Do you like the sound of the Recon TV show? If it is ordered to series, will you check out Recon on FOX?
Plec no thanks.
