How times have changed. Last year, Revolution looked like it was the big hit of the 2012-13 season. Now, NBC has cancelled it, according to TV Guide.
Revolution revolves around the Matheson family and others who live in a world where there is no longer any power. The cast includes Billy Burke, Tracy Spiridakos, Giancarlo Esposito, Zak Orth, David Lyons, JD Pardo, Stephen Collins, and Elizabeth Mitchell.
Following The Voice, Revolution started out very strong last year but the numbers fell as the season progressed. NBC renewed it for a full season off 22 episodes anyway and relocated it to Wednesdays at 8pm. It’s really struggled in that timeslot and this week fell to a 1.2 demo rating with 3.78 million viewers — an all-time low.
Not surprisingly, NBC has decided not to order a third season. There are two installments remaining and they will air on May 14th and May 21st. The final episode of ABC’s Mixology will also air on the latter date.
What do you think? Did you stick with Revoluton? If you ran the network, would you have cancelled the show or renewed it for a third season?
Don’t cancel it.
I love this show
Revolution is one of the best shows in a long time, why would NBC cancel a show that is so unique. Ratings maybe down , but does that account for all of the Revolution fans that actually DVR Revolution so they can watch one of their favorite shows when they choose to view it? Hopefully, another network will sign Revolution on. It is a great show that causes it’s viewers to look forward to all forward episodes of Revolution.
The problem with networks nowadays is huge expectations. Even at the lowest point ever(which was simply the result of the show being cancelled so people didn’t tune in) was at almost 4million people. That’s HUGE. I wouldn’t mind having a show that at it’s absolute MINIMUM brought in 4million viewers. If you look at some of the other top shows on primetime right now, they average out at around 5-7million viewers, around the same as Revolution’s, could you imagine if other networks were like NBC? There would only be live sports events, Big Bang, Modern Family and chat shows left… Read more »
I’d just like to add that my hope now lies with SyFy to pick it up and order some new episodes, or better yet, Netflix get involved. I’m loving their work right now, and they could do with a Sci-Fi flick to add to their growing list of genres, the possibilities would be endless too. Thanks to them being an independent streaming service, they can skip a lot of rules, would improve the potential even further.
Is nbc nuts first star trek, nbc 1966 cancelled after two seasons. 46 years later,5 spinoff series,5 movies,a2 billion enterprise, will they ever learn!!!!
NBC…No Body Cares…about keeping interesting programing at this network. I hope another network picks this one up.
I have been watch Revolution since the 1st episode and stays in the mind every time and that leaves us in the expectation of what will happen in the next episode. I cannot stop watching… Please do not leave Revolution go away…
This is unbelievable why in the world would you cancel a show like this and leave everyone hanging it’s just what they did to Under The Dome on another network… this is absurd…
Under The Dome was not cancelled, the second season premieres in a month’s time.
Another show where they screwed up science royally. By now they all should be cooked like a goose and have run out of air and died of carbon dioxide / monoxide poisoning . If you are going to do a show at least get the science right! (Or have a plausible explanation why they are still alive.)
My favorite show in a long time.
I wish they would stop cancelling the good shows, i’m sick of the reality shows, all the music shows, granted some are good, but enough is enough.
My favorite show. Can’t believe it was cancelled. Hope another network jumps on NBC’s mistake.
Apparently NBC enjoys cancelling top rated shows. Sorry to see this happen. Hopefully another network will pick it up.
First, NBC cancelled “The Event.” Now they have decided to cancel “Revolution.” Everytime, NBC tries to put a new series, especially a science fiction series, on the air, they never give it a chance to catch on with viewers. Instead, the look at ratings every week and then tinker with its time slot. Considering NBC’s track record, why on earth would anyone at this point watch any new series introduced by NBC when the network shows little commitment to new shows. NBC cannot expect to gain loyal viewers if it is now loyal to its own shows.
I can not believe NBC cancelled Revolution. I hope another network picks it up. SyFy would be great. I love Revolution. I am hooked.
I have watched this show from the beginning and am very disappointed with NBC for cancelling yet another great program. Now I remember why I pretty much quit watching NBC, they always cancel the shows I like after only a couple of seasons. Poor decision if you ask me. They should have renewed it and I am hoping with the way it ended that there is still hope it will one day return.
I have been watch Revolution from the very 1st episode and am always eager for the next one. Anytime a show is a bit unusual or different it gets cancelled! Especially when it’s on one of the big 3 networks!
FX or SciFi please pick this show up!!!!!!!! Then they can really play with the story lines and characters. So sad, Bass was just starting to be really likeable.
Hoping to see what goes down in the wasteland in Idaho.
