A+E Networks announces its remake of Roots will premiere on Memorial Day, airing over four consecutive nights at 9:00pm ET/PT, beginning Monday, May 30, 2016. The series will simulcast across A&E, History, and Lifetime. You can watch the official trailer.
The cast of Roots includes Forest Whitaker as Fiddler and Anna Paquin as Nancy Holt. Laurence Fishburne is Alex Haley. Jonathan Rhys Meyers plays Tom Lea. Anika Noni Rose is Kizzy. Tip “T.I.” Harris is Cyrus. Emayatzy Corinealdi plays Belle. Matthew Goode is Dr. William Waller. Mekhi Phifer plays Jerusalem. James Purefoy is John Waller. Regé-Jean Page is Chicken George, and Malachi Kirby is Kunta Kinte.

NEW YORK, NY – February 11, 2016 – HISTORY(R) premieres “Roots” on Memorial Day 2016, airing over four consecutive nights at 9 p.m. beginning Monday, May 30, it was announced today by Paul Buccieri, President of A&E and HISTORY. The four-night, eight-hour event series developed by HISTORY, from A+E Studios, is a historical portrait of American slavery recounting the journey of one family and their will to survive and ultimately carry on their legacy despite hardship. “Roots” will be simulcast on A&E and Lifetime, in addition to HISTORY.

War & Peace were pulled in mid-series without notice to customers so who is to say Roots will even be shown. Emails to A&E feedback were blocked because the in-box were full and emails to Customer Service were never replied to. All signs of a company that does not care about their viewers
