The AMC series has not been performing well in the ratings but, according to a listing in the Backstage industry casting paper, Rubicon has been renewed for year two. Here’s their info:
Rubicon (Drama, AMC) A think-tank analyst comes to the realization that his colleagues are not who he thought they were and may be a part of a covert organization secretly manipulating world politics and affairs. James Badge Dale stars. Casting: Avy Kaufman Casting, 180 Varick St., 16th Fl., New York, NY 10014. Premiered Aug. 1. Renewed.
Last Sunday’s episode attracted just a 0.2 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 997,000 total viewers. That pales when compared to AMC’s Mad Men which scored a 0.6 demo rating and 2.1 million viewers.
The Backstage listing seems like it’s most likely a typo or error because, for now, they seem to be the only one saying there will be another year.
The season finale of Rubicon, “You Can Never Win,” is set to air next Sunday on AMC.
What do you think? Would you like to see Rubicon return for another year or should it be cancelled?

I love it. . I’ve been watching it every Sunday . If I can just buy a book so I will know the end of the story. PLEASE !!! DON’T cancel it .
Excellent show. I think a second season is well deserved and would do much better in the ratings. Expect strong word of mouth/industry buzz after the season finale next week.
I’m counting on Season Two and will be EXTREMELY disillusioned with AMC if they don’t renew Rubicon. I want to see how the Travers-Spangler-Ingram triangle plays out. Now that Will uncovered the conspiracy….the fun begins.
My husband and I have the TiVo season pass to this show, and we love it! I hope that AMC will keep it in production. We have told several people about it.
Great writing, and some awesome acting. Will’s immediate boss and his superior are fantastic. Please keep this show going; because “The Wire” is gone, we don’t have anything too intelligent and well-written to watch but Rubicon.
One of the top five shows on right now in terms of quality and story telling. It would be a travesty for it not to be renewed for season two
The level of suspense is unparallel! AMC would make a huge mistake by not bringing it back for a second season!
Rubicon is brilliant! I watch all the HBO, Showtime and AMC shows and I’d have to say that Mad Men and Rubicon are tops right now.
If you want to see how many people are viewing it…have a look at the downloads online!
Please don’t cancel Rubicon! It’s the only thing worth watching since Lost
concluded its series…it keeps you thinking and anticapating as to where the
plot is going to next. It’s definitely in tune with today’s society thoughts and
troubles. I tape it and watch it more then once each week.
You should try the best show ever made – Breaking Bad, before posting such bs… but ya, while Rubicon is the best show of 2010… still that doesn’t say too much.. because there is not ONE single other show which is actual good.
This is, by far, the best new show of 2010.
However, I agree with the previous comments, you need to watch it from episode 1. Perhaps, with one or more repeat airings before season 2 starts, the ratings could be massively improved. DVD sales will help as well.
Rubicon has the potential to become a long running show, and more importantly, it could emerge as one of the best things on TV in a very long time.
Bring on season 2, I can’t wait.
Love. Renew.
Yes, I definitely watch and enjoy “Rubicon” and feel it deserves a second season with much more promotion to help it get the audience such a quality show deserves. PLEASE SAVE THIS SHOW!! Thank you.
Rubicon is an amazing show. It would be ridiculous-and a shame-to cancel such a wonderful, unique, artful program because it was a little slow (deliberately slow!) in the beginning, and AMC won’t stream the thing for free on their site. Expecting people to buy on iTunes? Ridiculous! Give it some time, put it on demand, and you’ll see Mad Men ratings. Worth noting: Mad Men was around 1 mil its first season, too, as I recall.
Im in England (UK) and im upto episode 9 and i like it a lot, it makes a change to see a series come from the USA that makes you think about how the world works and does not rely on star names or the same old tired show genre to make a show. Please make more as i keep getting into series that then get cancelled
Hoping that reruns of season 1 will do well in the ratings due to word of mouth about the show.
It’s the best new series in years. It’s brilliantly written, acted and shot; complex, smart and gorgeous. If AMC would make it available between seasons, utilizing On Demand and online viewing, they’d find an expanded audience in season two. I can’t remember the last time a series stayed in my mind so intensely.
I AGREE, IT IS INTELLIGENT AND HOPEFULLY NOT TOO COMPLICATED FOR THOSE WHOSE DECISIONIT IS TO RENEW IT FOR ANOTHER SEASON.
