Perhaps due to Kryptonite poisoning, CBS has decided it is not going forward with Tom Welling’s Section 13 TV show project. The Tiffany Network put the Covert-Ops drama into development, back in December 2015. In addition to starring, the Smallville star was executive producing with Carla Kettner, who was attached as writer.
Section 13 was described as focusing on “a CIA black ops officer-turned-private contractor (Welling) who, in the wake of a personal tragedy, joins a covert organization devoted to carrying out the most difficult high-stakes assignments.”
A reader wrote to TV Line‘s “Ask Ausiello” feature and asked Michael if there was any news on Section 13. He responded, “There is news, and it’s… not super. Matt Mitovich asked around, and the Smallville vet’s espionage-themed CBS project is sadly not moving forward.” Take care before clicking that “responded” link. Funny that his show doesnt get picked up but sounds awfully similiar to Taken..i would prefer Tom welling any day of the week. Would love to see Section 13 find its way to tv.

I would’ve liked to see Section 13 continue as planned it sounded like a good plot. There are many people wishing to see Tom back on the screen.

Perhaps he will consider pitching the show via Netflix. It might fly in that environment.
This sucks! The idea sounded really cool and who doesn’t want Tom Welling back on TV?
Personally, I think it sucks! I was ecstatic to hear that Tom Welling was going to be in something new and the description of Section 13 sounded awesome and the kind of show I like.
I watched all 10 seasons of Smallville, and thought it brought out a more human side to the “Man Of Steel” than even Christopher Reeve’s role. Both “The Choice, and Draft Day” I thought he did really well in. I think as far as Tv show goes, Mr Welling should try for Homeland, Black Sails, Fargo, or Criminal Minds. Rather as a cop, or a sailor I think he’d play both off well. But as far as Superman goes if I were in his shoes, and was asked to be the red caped wonder in Supergirl I would show up… Read more »
Mr. Welling should try USA network. Section 13 would fit into their style of programming. Best wishes to Tom Welling. He’s a really good actor with a strong presence. The series plot looks like a winner.
Please CBS, reconsider moving forward with Section 13 pilot with Tom Welling. The plot seems very intriguing and many Tom Welling fans would view and follow it.
I was looking forward to seeing Section 13 in the fall of 2016. From the description, it seemed very intriguing. Tom Welling is a very talented and versatile actor; I would like to see him stretch his wings and play a different character. Please reconsider CBS and go forward with this pilot. Thank you.
