What’s This TV Show About?
An FX vampire horror drama based on the novel trilogy by by Guillermo del Toro and Chuck Hogan, The Strain stars Corey Stoll, David Bradley, Jonathan Hyde, Kevin Durand, Ruta Gedmintas, Miguel Gomez, Richard Sammel, Max Charles, and Rupert Penry-Jones. Season four kicks off, nine months after the end of the third season. The strigoi are now controlling a world that has plunged into darkness. While the Master works to end the world as we know it, the white hats are struggling to save the human race.
Season Four Ratings
The fourth season of The Strain averaged a 0.37 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 985,000 viewers. Compared to season three, that’s down by 12% and up by 2%, respectively. Find out how The Strain stacks up against other FX TV shows.
In September of 2016, The Strain was renewed for a fourth and final season, so there will be no season five. The finale aired September 17, 2017. Could there be a revival someday? Stay tuned for further updates.
Telly’s Take
Fans don’t have to worry that FX will cancel The Strain TV show, because the last renewal was for a fourth and final season. Although the show is ending, we’re still tracking the ratings because it helps us gauge the performance of other FX TV series. And when talk of a sequel, prequel, or spin-off arises, it gives us a better idea of their likelihood. So, I’ll still keep an eye on the Nielsens and update this page from time to time. I was really hoping it was gonna continue. I love the show but I lost my cable and been waiting for the shows to come back!

AT LEAST IF ANYTHING ONLY PUT SEASON 5 ON HULU!
It would be great if the strain was to air again, unfortunately I missed the last season, but the whole thing was amazing and I hope the producers rethink or talk about putting the show back on air, a lot of viewers loved that show.
This was my favorite show – to equal out with Walking Dead was hard to do. And now it is gone. A great idea and a great cast – lots of work to still do but again we are left with a short ending and no season 5. Wrong FX.
I hope there would be season five of the strain, it ended to soon, so plese give us morer of the strain. sad person…
I absolutely loved the Strain. The Quinlan story line is very interesting. I’d love to see a spinoff telling his story or one with Quinlan and Fet. At the end of the last episode Fet said “nothing could go wrong keeping some stragoi alive” definitely with sarcasm. Fet was my favorite character and Dutch should have stayed with him!!! While there is stragoi still alive, there is STILL A STRAIN!!!!

I love “The Strain” i watched every season from the beginning! You gotta do a season 5 or a spin off! I hope Quinlan is still alive! Bring this show back please! It’s the best on tv.

Sort of like the source material, the first season was very good, entertaining and a great new vision of the vampire curse. But the second and third books just didn’t have the same punch and that’s true for seasons 2 & 3 here. I’m hoping that they tie up all the loose ends but this show lost me by diverging from the books without adding something.
i had the same problem with, the walking dead.!! the material was to close to the books.!! so i stopped watching the show.!! since i had already read the books.!! so i was glad the strain took another path.!! jon, why watch what you already read.???
