All good things must come to an end and the end is near for The Good Wife. The network announced that the Sunday night drama is coming to an end this season and there are nine episodes remaining. While the TV series could have been cancelled several times over the years due to low ratings, The Good Wife has been a prestigious show for the network, garnering awards and critic respect.
On The Good Wife, attorney and mother Alicia Florrick (Julianna Margulies) continues to face new challenges and opportunities in both her personal and professional lives. This season, the series also stars Matt Czuchry, Alan Cumming, Zach Grenier, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Christine Baranski, and Cush Jumbo.
There’s been speculation for awhile that the show may be ending for many reasons. IN addition to sinking ratings, key castmember contracts are up this year and creators Robert and Michelle King are leaving to work on new CBS series BrainDead.
What do you think? Are you sorry that The Good Wife is ending? Would you have watched an eighth season?
I am soooo disappointed! It’s a BIG mistake canceling this show! I for one am going to be really upset for a long time to come! after awhile, there will no good shows left to watch, and will have to switch to Netflix!
I will miss the Good Wife. I will miss the actors– some of the best anywhere of any genre. I watched Chris Noth on Law and order, and Alan Cumming from Mystery on PBS–his apperance in the introduction of the story line is the best part; Julianna the best female actor in a loooong time. God speed to all the members of the cast.
So upset about this news. I love this show. Many of the CBS shows I have watched faithfully were cancelled. I use to watch all my primetime shows on CBS but more and more I’m having to find another show on a different network. Right now I have turned it to ABC because I couldn’t get into CSI cyber. Would like to think CBS will change their mind on the Good Wife!
Very sad! I love the Good Wife”. Maybe someone else will pick them up?? Fingers crossed.
I will miss the Good Wife; have been a avid fan since Season 1. We need Julianne and Alan, at the least, active in another t.v. show asap after this series ends on May 8th!
The Good Wife is by far the best series CBS has produced in years!. I would have loved to see the series continue I will definitely miss it; there does not seem to be any show like it.
Can’t believe it’s ending — favorite show maybe ever. Very smart and witty, and very intriguing, fully developed characters. So hard to find truly original dialogues and situations on television these days. Going to miss it.
I’m going to miss the show. I hope they give it a good ending.
A very sad piece of news. Would have watched forever. Wonderful actors/actresses in even the smallest of roles. Julianna and Christine – top notch; Alan Cumming – spectacular. Will especially miss looking at Matt Czuchry.
I probably would have continued to watch, but I can’t say I’m truly sad. They’ve taken some terrible turns in recent seasons. I will miss Alan Cumming.
I HATE that The Good Wife is ending. SUCH a BRILLIANT show. The only good thing about it is that now I can watch The Walking Dead as it airs, rather than watching it on demand. Not much of a good thing, though, I will miss The Good Wife more than I can express. I finally got my husband to watch it bt 3 seasons ago – and he is now hooked. He will be MAD – I am SAD.
ANOTHER NAIL IN CBS’S COFFIN WITH ME, CANCELLING SHOWS THAT ARE GREAT SHOWS. ENOUGH NAILS AND I WILL DELETE CBS FROM MY TELEVISION LINEUP. NOT WATCHING ANY NEW SHOWS THEY BRING FORTH. ANOTHER BAD DECISION FROM CBS.
I about fell out of my chair when I saw The Good Wife final season promo during the Super Bowl. This is one of the best network shows and I have watched I since the first episode. Sad to see it go,
Since there’s no way to resurrect Will, it may as well end. However I’ve never missed an episode, and it will be difficult to leave it. A great cast of characters who will surely find new roles elsewhere, I will miss them all.
The Good Wife has been one of my favorites from day #1. Everything about it has always been top drawer. Of course I will miss it, but it could not go on forever, so I will just need to learn how to cope and keep going with the reruns. ;o)
