FX has decided to order a second season of its semi-scripted comedy series, The League.
Following a group of friends that make up a fantasy football league, The League features the talents of Mark Duplass, Nick Kroll, Katie Aselton, Paul Scheer, Stephen Rannazzisi, and Jon LaJoie.
The October 29th series premiere attracted just under a million viewers but rose by nearly 50% in its second airing. The numbers have leveled off since then, to an average of about a million viewers.
The programmers at FX are apparently pleased enough with the ratings to give the series a renewal, even before the sixth and final episode of the season has aired (tonight).

FX has more than doubled The League’s first season order, opting for 13 installments for season two. The next round of The League will kick off in the later part of Summer 2010.
Of the renewal decision, Nick Grad, FX’s Exec VP of Original Programming, said, “We’ve been very pleased with the creative and ratings trajectory of The League and believe it’s an excellent fit with our comedy brand.”
Executive producers Jackie and Jeff Schaffer couldn’t be happier. Jackie said, “This has been a wonderful experience for me and Jeff. Our cast — Mark, Steve, Nick, Paul, Katie and Jon — is made up of some of the most talented young actor-comedians in the business. So much of the credit goes to them.”
Jeff added, “FX has been like the coolest girlfriend you could ever have. They get us, laugh at our jokes, and love hearing us talk about football. It’s a perfect relationship — and we look forward to going steady with them for a long time.”
What do you think? Have you watched The League? Does it deserve a second season or should it have been cancelled?

frikin genius! its perfect in every way
great show, cant wait for more. next season i hope for more of taco and more half naked wives.
Friggin genius! I don’t know why it took so long for a network to pick up on the popularity of fantasy football and make a gutbusting funny series revolving around it. Can’t wait for season two. Thanks FX!
i wanted to cry when there were only 6 episodes. my buddies and i can’t stop quoting the show, comical gold. can’t wait for next season.
HILARIOUS SHOW… PERIOD! btw i just tried some 3 ***** wine.. and it worked like magic.
this show is hilarious and Jon Lajoie playing Taco is priceless.
Great show, and a great decision to renew for season 2….my friends and I all love this show.
I am so glad that this show has been renewed. I think it has all the right stuff. Go TACO your the man
Jon Lajoie is my hero. So glad there’s a season 2
The League is my favorite show on the air right now, with out a doubt by far. I am happy to hear that it is coming back with twice as many episodes…i am thrilled.
A better series also called The League is on the Internet. Go to http://www.watchtheleague.com and enjoy! Better than FX’s junior high humor.
Anyone who voted for the show to be canceled is an idiot. This show has the best dialogue next to Its Always Sunny.
the league was awesome, it exceeded all my expectations!
The League is fanatic for fantasy players such as mysel, I’m glad to see it continue!
I don’t play fantasy football and rarely watch the NFL. That being said, the league is my favorite comedy on TV right now (not including HBO). So happy it’s getting a second season.
