FX has decided to order a second season of its semi-scripted comedy series, The League.
Following a group of friends that make up a fantasy football league, The League features the talents of Mark Duplass, Nick Kroll, Katie Aselton, Paul Scheer, Stephen Rannazzisi, and Jon LaJoie.
The October 29th series premiere attracted just under a million viewers but rose by nearly 50% in its second airing. The numbers have leveled off since then, to an average of about a million viewers.
The programmers at FX are apparently pleased enough with the ratings to give the series a renewal, even before the sixth and final episode of the season has aired (tonight).

FX has more than doubled The League’s first season order, opting for 13 installments for season two. The next round of The League will kick off in the later part of Summer 2010.
Of the renewal decision, Nick Grad, FX’s Exec VP of Original Programming, said, “We’ve been very pleased with the creative and ratings trajectory of The League and believe it’s an excellent fit with our comedy brand.”
Executive producers Jackie and Jeff Schaffer couldn’t be happier. Jackie said, “This has been a wonderful experience for me and Jeff. Our cast — Mark, Steve, Nick, Paul, Katie and Jon — is made up of some of the most talented young actor-comedians in the business. So much of the credit goes to them.”
Jeff added, “FX has been like the coolest girlfriend you could ever have. They get us, laugh at our jokes, and love hearing us talk about football. It’s a perfect relationship — and we look forward to going steady with them for a long time.”
What do you think? Have you watched The League? Does it deserve a second season or should it have been cancelled?

Best show I have ever seen!!!! Please bring it back!
this is a great show with a very good cast, the comedy timing is also great and I’m very glad to hear a 2nd season is on the way
Great show. I’m thrilled that season 2 will be twice as big.
Ilovee this show……..Do America a favor and keep it on!
This is the best show on tv. If it were on NBC ABC or FOX Im sure it would be one of t ehe highest rated shows on tv. The only suprise f or me s that they only renewed one season
I thought Always Sunny in Philadelphia was the best tv show ever made, until The League was presented to me. Do not let this series ever get cancelled.
Love it. Jon Lajoie is the reason i started watching, if you like the show check out his videos. His commercial for 3 ***** wine is classic. i just need to a station to pick it up in Canada so i dont have to watch it online all the time.
Great show. I will watch as long as it airs, nothing like combining comedy with football. All they need to do now is add more babes to make it complete.
you see shows like the office and 30 rock win awards for comedy if only they were as funny as the league no other comedy show on tv can touch this show it goes to show you don’t need big name people to pull off a classic even “it’s always sunny” has danny devito thankyou FX for coming out with a show worth watching over and over again
“The League” kicks a–. I have been hoping that the show would continue and have my DVR looking for future episodes. It is different, honest and incredibly funny, but at the same time, not ridiculous. I cannot wait and will review the first season.
Love to hear your thoughts on our web show with the same name! And no we didn’t copy FX, we released before them, and have a different take on fantasy football. Check us out!
Leave these guys on forever! This show is hilarious and I hope other people catch on soon.
Yea that shows hilarious
Loved it best comedy show in a long time since Dave Chappelle. The League is bold and sightly tasteful in its male sense of humour. You can’t help but relate with The League as a guy this could be your group of dudes. I give this show 10 Shiva Blast it’s hilarious. Please let’s keep something out there for men to watch during prime time TV.
