Fans don’t have to worry that FX will cancel The Strain TV show, but only because in September of 2016, the cable network announced the last renewal was for a fourth and final season. Although the show is ending, we’re still tracking the ratings because it’s fun, and because it gives us a benchmark for the performance of other FX TV series. So while we don’t have to wonder if The Strain will be cancelled or renewed for season five, stay tuned.
Based on the novel trilogy by Guillermo del Toro and Chuck Hogan, The Strain is a vampire horror drama starring Corey Stoll, David Bradley, Jonathan Hyde, Kevin Durand, Ruta Gedmintas, Miguel Gomez, Richard Sammel, Max Charles, and Rupert Penry-Jones. Season four kicks off on FX, nine months after the end of the third season. The strigoi are now controlling a world that has plunged into darkness. While the Master works to end the world as we know it, the white hats are struggling to save the human race.
In the changing world of television, TV execs look at many factors when deciding to renew or cancel a show. However, the ratings remain important. The higher the ratings, the better the chances for survival. While The Strain will end with season four, its ratings can play into whether or not there will be a reunion or revival. They also help us gauge which other FX TV shows will be cancelled or renewed. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available.

For comparisons: The third season of The Strain averaged a 0.42 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 961,000 viewers.
What do you think? Do you like The Strain TV show? Is it ending at the right time, or do you wish it had been renewed for a fifth season?
Please bring back the strain for season 5, make it the last but give it a better ending, so disappointed, how dare they cancel it. What a load of BS
