To little surprise, CBS has pulled Three Rivers from the Sunday night schedule, effective immediately. Will the show be back? Has it been cancelled?
Three Rivers follows a group of dedicated doctors and medical staffers who help those in need of organ transplants. The series stars Alex O’Loughlin, Katherine Moennig, Daniel Henney, Justina Machado, Christopher Hanke, Amber Clayton, and Alfre Woodard.
The medical drama got off to a slow start in the ratings back in early October. Unfortunately, the numbers only got worse as the weeks wore on and it became a likely candidate for early cancellation.
To CBS’ credit, the network has been patient with the series and has kept it on the air. Two weeks ago, the network tried switching timeslots with Cold Case. While the veteran crime drama benefited from the time change and attracted more viewers, Three Rivers did not.
Three Rivers has now been pulled from the Sunday night schedule. As expected, Cold Case will slip into the earlier timeslot and repeats of various crime dramas will take over at 10pm.
A CBS spokesperson has said that Three Rivers’ fate has not yet been decided but the network has not ordered any additional installments beyond the initial 13 episodes.
Eight episodes of the drama have been aired, leaving five on the shelf. CBS will likely burn them off either on Saturdays or during the summer months but, unless the execs have a major change of heart, Three Rivers is essentially cancelled.
What do you think? What went wrong with Three Rivers? Is Sunday night football to blame for the show’s failure to attract more viewers or was the show flawed?

Please don’t cancell this show it is one of the best new shows out there.. It is a great cast and a wonderful look at work that the transplant teams do, they are never really thought of until it is needed, this show could potentionally help with the need of organ donors.. PLEASE LEAVE IT ON!!!
Disappointed! TV networks get stuck in a rut (reality shows, crime investigation, cops & lawyers, etc.) and this show was actually trying to break out just a bit. Yes, it was another hospital show, but it was dealing with a very important social issue of organ donation and transplantation. It hit on the emotional aspects, political issues and actually got several facts correct, which made it educational too! It may have walked all over HIPAA, but its excused for the sake of the drama and entertaining story lines. Give the show more of a chance to build viewers. Its well… Read more »
I thought Three Rivers was AWESOME! Very compelling and caring. When a show can bring you to tears and make you laugh as well, there is a lot to be said about it. I do believe that it would do better on another night, not competing with football. I would love to see its return.
Every time they get a good show they take it off and put on some idiot reality show enough already!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I absolutely loved, Three Rivers! It was one of the best shows to air in a long time! I had been looking forward to seeing Alex O’Laughlin again… especially after the cancellation of Moonlight! Once again… CBS has cancelled a great show! I feel the reason it was cancelled was because of the time slot. Each week the show would be delayed further and further because of sports! It never started at 9:00pm like it should have… and I think people became frustrated and the show lost viewers! I do hope Three Rivers will air again in a much better… Read more »
This show is amazing – a guaranteed tear-jerker every week. Not to mention that Mandy Patinkin’s guest appearance was BRILLIANT!!
What a shame! My husband and I are so sick of all the reality shows everywhere. Lets get back to god family programing.
I have been waiting for Three Rivers to appear again. It was a good clean show and I loved it. I also think it has a great theme. We all need to know more about transplants.
I love medical shows, but lately all have more junk than medicine. PLEASE BRING BACK THREE RIVERS. I think it would do better on another night as something is always changing the time and moving it back. Give it a chance on Monday or Tuesday.
I THINK THREE RIVERS WAS A WINNER AND LOOKED FORWARD TO WATCHING IT. SICK OF CSI AND COLD CASE. PLEASE BRING IT BACK
I am so very upset. I seen this on viptv.net and watched it. I loved it. I work on Sundays but Three Rivers was always recorded at home for me to watch when I got in. This is crazy. They get a great show that I feel could change people’s views and what happens they cancel it. Come on now, make better choices!!!!
I am SO disappointed that this series has been pulled. Not only was it a great CLEAN program (and that is becoming a rarity), but I think it went a long way in giving organ donation and transplants a more prominant place on TV. Darn it anyway!
I loved Three Rivers!! I am really disappointed that it is not on. I can’t imagine why it was not given more time to catch on with the public. It’s a great show and the cast is wonderful. Please bring it back.
I thought this show had real potential and will miss it. I hope that CBS gives it another shot, perhaps on another night. The cast is solid and believable and the show had great medical substance, not just having all of the hospital staff jumping into bed with each other. It deserves another chance in my estimation.
This is the only show I watched on CBS. CBS is an idiot network to cancel thisa show.
