How will CBS deal with the death of Bill Paxton? Deadline reports Training Day will pay tribute to the late actor during this week’s episode.
Paxton, who played Detective Frank Rourke on the freshman drama, passed away on February 25th. The series, a reboot of the 2001 film, also stars Justin Cornwell, Katrina Law, Drew Van Acker, Lex Scott Davis, Julie Benz, Christina Vidal, and Marianne Jean-Baptiste.
According to Deadline, this Thursday’s episode of Training Day will include a “special dedication” to the actor. Filming on Training Day‘s first season wrapped before Paxton’s unexpected death, so the actor will still be featured throughout the rest of the season. However, it’s still unclear if CBS will renew the show for a second season or not.
Ratings were already low for the reboot series before Paxton’s passing. So far, Training Day is averaging a 0.77 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 4.165 million viewers.
New episodes of Training Day air on Thursdays at 10 p.m. ET/PT.
What do you think? Do you watch Training Day? Do you think the show should continue without Paxton?
I really love the show don’t know how it will be without Paxton cause he is the reason I started watching it. Just please at least give it a chance!!
I love the show. Keep it going, please!
The show won’t be the same. We loved Bill Paxton and I can only hope they keep the show going. I would just have his partner take over his roll as the one doing the right thing no matter the cost. Because there is no replacing Bill.
Great show….. It’s sad that Bill passed away,I don’t think the show could go on and actually make it without him…. that’s just my opinion…
It’s been a good show I’d like to see it continue but will depend on who replaces him.
We DVR Training Day Every week so we don’t miss it. I hope they figure out a way to continue it, and have Craig and the crew figure out who “killed” Frank as well. Season 2 should open with them at Frank’s funeral and then working to find the ones responsible for his death, etc. Then, maybe, figure out a way for the Team to continue on without him, while they try to find someone to play another Hard Core OG Detective, maybe someone else that he worked with when he was younger, that has the same ethics and mentality… Read more »
Dude training day is one of my fav shows now!!! I see it as a few seasons type show!!! Keep it going please!!!
Great show. They should carry on and perhaps look at a possible recast. Michael Biehn perhaps?
Love this show. I was unaware of Bill Paxton’s passing. Very sad to hear this. I would like to see the show continue. My condolences to his family and friends.
I love this show . We watch it every Thursday.
We were truly saddened by Bill Paxton’s passing. I would like to see the show continue but they will have to look hard for a replacement
really like the show, however it will not be the same without him.
his death is such a horrible shame… ive been following training day since its premier & i was absolutely looking forward to following the show, & i was especially interested and intrigued by Bill Paxton’s queationable character. The show wouldnt ever truly be the same again without his role and involvement anymore, yet i cant help but think the network was definitely onto something both significant and worthwhile to be said for in this series. i can only leave it up to the powers that be to decide what they think is best to do from here, whether to cancel… Read more »

It is a great show, it is so sad about Bill Paxton, but I would like to see the show go on, but you have to pick the right person to bring into the show
Really like Training Day. Bill Paxton was fantastic in it. Hope that the show continues if they can find someone equally charismatic in the role.
